Short Summary:
The Sr. Associate Systems Engineer is an early-career, pre-sales technical role supporting the Sales Account Executive team, contributing to sales opportunities under the guidance of senior Systems Engineers. This position is growth-oriented for someone dynamic and eager to build a career in pre-sales engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Pre-Sales team in the design, planning, and delivery of Proof of Concepts (POCs) and technical validations.
- Execute defined pre-sales tasks within the sales cycle, with guidance from senior Systems Engineers.
- Participate in customer calls and technical conversations, progressively taking ownership of smaller components.
- Build proficiency across the Extreme Networks portfolio plus one area of specialization.
- Assist with product demonstrations, trade shows, seminars, and internal demonstration facilities.
- Develop an understanding of competitive positioning for Extreme Networks solutions.
- Use Wi-Fi test and planning tools (e.g., Ekahau, AirMagnet, NetScout) with guidance.
- Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional groups on individual deals.
- Travel to customer sites as needed to support Account Executives and senior Systems Engineers.
Requirement:
- 1-3 years of experience in networking, pre-sales, or technical support.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundational knowledge of networking technologies and eagerness to expand that knowledge quickly.
- Ability to independently run standard product demos and contribute to POCs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with growing comfort presenting to technical audiences.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the region, up to 60%.
- Foundational certifications preferred but not required (e.g., ECNA, CCNA, CWTS, or equivalent).
- Exposure to two or more of the following is a plus: NAC, RADIUS, 802.1x, Active Directory, LDAP, security fundamentals, cloud technologies, wireless, VPN, SDN, SaaS, IPv4/v6 routing protocols, Layer 2 switching.
