Job Title: HR Coordinator

Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 Months

Pay Rate: $19/HR (W2 Only)

Job/Role Description:

• This role will be responsible for adjudicating criminal background screenings and performing individualized assessments on complex cases to determine employment eligibility in accordance with established procedures, applicable laws, and regulations.
• Review and adjudicate background screening results including criminal history, education, and employment verification.
• Exercise sound judgment and critical thinking when reviewing complex or sensitive cases.
• Research and interpret applicable legal requirements and guidelines to support employment eligibility decisions.
• Execute applicable HR processes, programs, and compliance-related activities.
• Access, maintain, and update multiple databases, systems, and tracking tools.
• Support compliance-related changes, updates, and initiatives.
• Contact candidates as needed to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional information.
• Work with background screening vendors to resolve candidate background screening issues.
• Handle escalated and sensitive inquiries in a professional and confidential manner.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, strengthen compliance, and enhance the candidate and employee experience.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment while managing multiple priorities.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
• At least 1 year of experience in Human Resources with a focus on process management, risk mitigation, compliance, or a related function.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow established policies and procedures while applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills to complex cases.
• Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
• Ability to navigate complex and sensitive subject matter in a professional and composed manner.
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
• Experience working with online systems, databases, and tracking tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ year of process management or project management experience.
• 1+ year of risk management experience.
• 1+ year of Human Resources experience.
• 1+ year of experience adjudicating background investigation results or pre-employment screenings against established guidelines.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, legal services, or as a paralegal within a corporate legal department or law firm.
• Experience reviewing applications or cases requiring judgment-based decisions.
• Experience with Workday, Salesforce, First Advantage, DocuSign, and Google Workspace.
