Short Summary:
The Medicinal Chemistry Department at Roche's China Innovation Center in Shanghai is seeking a Section Head to lead drug discovery programs, focusing on innovative small molecule therapeutics for various high unmet medical needs.

Responsibilities:
- Lead internal and external chemistry teams (CRO) on small molecule drug discovery programs.
- Formulate comprehensive project strategies, collaborating within cross-functional teams.
- Steer drug discovery campaigns and facilitate go/no-go decisions for project progression.
- Foster collaborative networks with project team peers to advance candidate molecules.
- Develop and execute new diseases or technological areas as assigned.
- Provide subject matter expertise for novel target or technology opportunities.
- Direct a group of highly skilled medicinal chemists for their performance and career development.

Requirement:
- PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or chemical biology with over 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Comprehensive grasp of small molecule drug discovery methodologies and specific therapeutic fields.
- Proven track record of achieving milestones from target validation to clinical candidate selection.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and a passion for innovative solutions.
- High learning agility and flexible operational style.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional fluency in both spoken and written English.
