Description
COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATOR
PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Part-time 24 hours/week
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible to provide health education and promotion within the community, perform disease outbreak investigations, provide child immunizations, and improve health equity for Iowans to reduce the burden of preventative diseases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Instruct patients of different ages and socioeconomic backgrounds in the techniques, practices, and methods of promoting and maintaining their health.

Implement standard office procedures and use modern office equipment effectively

Organizational skills to maintain health supplies and equipment.

Develop, review, update and recommend health program media campaigns and educational outreach.

Maintain effective working relationships with the public, other health care professionals and patients/clients.
Requirements
Education:
-
Required: Licensed Practical Nurse
License/Registration/Certification:
-
Required: Current Iowa LPN license
-
Required: Valid Iowa drivers license and liability insurance on vehicle used.
Experience:
-
Required: Proficiency in Microsoft office or Google workspace

Preferred: 1 year public health experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required.

Highly developed problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions.

Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work and special projects.
-
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong project management skills needed.

Ability to learn and use various community programs.
