Short Summary:
Primer is the unified infrastructure for global payments, providing finance and payments teams with visibility and control to reduce complexity and improve performance. The Data team transforms data into actionable insights for merchants and the business, operating with a high degree of autonomy.
Responsibilities:
- Own delivery end to end across the data platform: streaming, warehousing, modelling, and pipelines.
- Lead, coach, and grow the engineers on your team.
- Stay technically credible by reviewing designs and evaluating trade-offs.
- Treat data consumers as first-class users, ensuring reliable contracts and documented models.
- Take on the ML function as it grows, shaping its delivery and leadership.
- Partner with Product and engineering leadership to shape a realistic roadmap.
- Drive operational excellence, including data quality monitoring and incident response.
- Own the cost side of the platform, embedding FinOps practices.
Requirement:
- Experience managing a team of data engineers.
- Technical depth to be respected by strong engineers.
- Background in building and operating data platforms at scale.
- Experience coaching engineers across a wide seniority range.
- Exposure to machine learning and understanding of models in production.
- Comfort operating with high autonomy.
