Product Strategist — Environmental Engineer

The C-MORE Company | Remote, Worldwide

About C-MORE

The C-MORE Company builds data products for enterprise risk, compliance, and decision-making. Our platform collects and processes non-public data. It supports multi-stakeholder scoring and non-financial risk analysis.

We work with global enterprises across financial institutions, technology, industrial manufacturing, testing and certification, and international development. Our clients are companies that need to know — organisations for whom trusted, verified, non-public intelligence is not optional. We operate worldwide, supporting teams across multiple regions and markets.

We are expanding from Europe into the United States and Latin America. Environmental, social, and governance risk sits at the centre of what our clients ask us to help them understand — and we need a Product Designer who can bring real environmental engineering knowledge into how our product is shaped.

The Role

We are looking for a Product Designer with a background in environmental engineering.

This is an unusual role. It is not a pure UX role and it is not a pure engineering role. You will sit inside the product team and help us decide what to build, how it should work, and how it should be presented to users who make serious decisions based on our data.

You will bring the technical understanding of environmental systems — emissions, water, waste, biodiversity, supply-chain impact, regulatory frameworks — and translate that expertise into product decisions, workflows, and interfaces that our clients can actually use.

You will work closely with our product team, engineering team, data team, and directly with clients. You will be expected to talk to clients, own outcomes, and take responsibility for the parts of the product you touch.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Contribute environmental engineering expertise to product decisions, methodologies, and data models.

  • Help define what the product should do in the environmental and non-financial risk space, and challenge assumptions before we build.

  • Design workflows, interfaces, and outputs that make complex environmental data understandable to non-technical decision-makers.

  • Work directly with clients — compliance teams, sustainability teams, risk teams, and senior stakeholders — to understand their needs and validate our thinking.

  • Take ownership of client-facing work: respond to questions, defend methodology, and follow through on commitments.

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and the leadership team.

  • Test product assumptions and validate designs before and after implementation.

  • Contribute to our public R&D output — writing articles, methodology notes, or thought leadership pieces on environmental risk, non-public data, and how we build our product.

  • Keep up with regulatory changes, scientific developments, and industry practices in the environmental and sustainability space.

  • Work in an agile way — short cycles, frequent iteration, quick decisions, comfortable with uncertainty.

Required Experience

You should have:

  • A degree in environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline (environmental science, sustainability engineering, chemical engineering with an environmental focus).

  • At least 5 years of professional experience.

  • Real experience working on environmental topics in a professional setting — consulting, industry, regulatory work, research, or product.

  • Fluent English, written and verbal. All internal work and most client work is conducted in English.

  • A startup spirit — comfortable with ambiguity, limited resources, and moving fast without complete information.

  • An agile way of working — short iterations, quick feedback loops, and a bias toward shipping and learning over long planning cycles.

  • Client accountability — you take ownership of what you promise, you respond, and you follow through.

  • Openness to writing R&D articles and putting your name on public-facing technical content.

  • The ability to work fully remote and manage your own time and priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can explain complex technical topics clearly to non-technical readers.

Preferred Experience

The following experience is useful but not required:

  • Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks (CSRD, GRI, TCFD, SBTi, ISSB, CDP).

  • Experience with environmental risk assessment or ESG risk analysis.

  • Experience working on or contributing to a software product.

  • Experience working directly with enterprise clients.

  • Previous publications, articles, or public writing on environmental or sustainability topics.

  • Additional languages — Portuguese, Spanish, or French.

How We Work

We are a small, senior team.

You will not receive complete requirements and then execute against them. You will help investigate the problem, test the assumptions, and determine what should be built. You will be expected to have opinions, defend them with evidence, and change them when the evidence changes.

You must be comfortable with client contact. You will be in front of sustainability leaders, compliance officers, and senior decision-makers at large organisations. You must be able to represent C-MORE credibly and technically.

We work fully remote and asynchronously by default, with regular synchronous moments for alignment. We expect people to own their outcomes without daily supervision.
