Junior UX/UI Designer Company: BankingON Location: Remote (expect Russia, Belarus) Reports to: Design Lead Type: Full-time
About BankingON BankingON builds white-label banking technology for credit unions and community banks, including Boucoup and Petra. We're a small, collaborative team where design, product, and engineering work closely together to ship features that real financial institutions and their members rely on every day.
About the Role We're looking for a Junior UX/UI Designer to join our design team and grow alongside our Petra and Boucoup products. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their design career who wants hands-on experience across two live products, direct exposure to customer-driven feature work, and mentorship from senior designers. You'll spend most of your time supporting design requests, learning our products and customers inside and out, and gradually taking on more ownership as you grow.
What You'll Do Support product design work across Petra and Boucoup Support Petra project managers' design requests, many of which stem from customer initiatives, by producing wireframes, mockups, and polished UI under the guidance of senior designers. Assist with Boucoup design needs as they arise, including financial literacy video assets and supporting UI work. Attend and contribute to Petra internal meetings, collaborating with developers and project managers to understand requirements and translate them into design solutions. Participate in internal feedback sessions and design reviews for both Petra and Boucoup, learning how to give and receive design critique.
Build product and customer knowledge Work with stakeholders to help gather and clarify feature requirements, learning to translate research, feedback, and analytics into design decisions. Develop a working understanding of our customers (credit unions, community banks, and the families/members who use our products) to inform your design thinking. Build industry knowledge over time so you can start contributing ideas to the product roadmap.
Grow as a contributor Bring forward at least one feature idea, improvement, or design concept per year that's strong enough to be considered for the development pipeline. Take feedback well and collaborate openly — no ego, clear communication, and a genuine willingness to learn from more experienced designers. Ask questions, seek mentorship, and use every project as a chance to develop your craft.
What We're Looking For 0–2 years of professional UX/UI design experience (internships, bootcamp projects, or a strong portfolio count). A portfolio demonstrating foundational UI design skills (visual hierarchy, layout, typography, basic interaction design) and some exposure to UX process (user flows, wireframing, research basics). Familiarity with design tools such as Figma. Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with project managers and developers, not just other designers. Curiosity about the banking/fintech space, or willingness to learn it quickly. A collaborative, low-ego attitude — you're excited to take direction, absorb feedback, and grow into more autonomy over time. Nice to Have Coursework, internship, or project experience related to fintech, banking, or consumer apps. Basic understanding of accessibility principles in UI design. Experience contributing to a design system or working within an established one.
What Success Looks Like in Year One You've become a reliable design partner for Petra's project managers and developers, handling requests with increasing independence. You understand Boucoup and its customers well enough to speak knowledgeably about the product and contribute early ideas. You've brought at least one idea into the development pipeline. You've grown your craft through consistent feedback and collaboration with the design team.
