08/28/2026 Additional Information: Show/Hide - Perform preventive and emergency maintenance of various grounds and gas-powered equipment and tools including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, wing and flail mowers, weed eaters, edgers, trimmers, ditch witches, tractors, and similar equipment; install gas engine systems or components and repair hydraulics.
- Evaluate cost-effectiveness of repairing versus replacing equipment, and make recommendations to immediate supervisor.
- Read and interpret schematics and specifications; troubleshoot small engine problems and prepare accurate materials lists.
- Be responsible for vehicle, vehicle inventory, materials, tools, and recordkeeping necessary to satisfactorily complete an assigned task; schedule required maintenance and inspections and keep vehicle and work areas clean and orderly.
- Supervise and delegate tasks; cooperate with coworkers and routinely report necessary information to immediate supervisor.
- Participate in the preparation of specifications and evaluation of competitive solicitations for repair parts and new equipment.
- Make routine decisions under general supervision in accordance with established priorities and policies.
- Maintain accurate time cards and have them approved by supervisor. Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, integrity, cooperation and efficient use of time in the performance of assigned duties.
- Must provide proper documentation of work tasks accomplished on a daily basis.
Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.
Participate in professional development activities as required by the district.
Follow established safety procedures to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.

Maintains assigned vehicles, equipment, tools, materials, records, and work areas; evaluates repair and replacement needs, assists with specifications and purchasing processes.Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; must have related technical training and three (3) years verifiable experience installing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintain a wide variety of grounds equipment and other small engine equipment, technical training related to the position preferred. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Must be able to life, carry, push and/or pull up to fifty (50) pounds frequently; work under all weather conditions, be adaptable to work a shift schedule and/or hours other than regularly assigned; extended periods of walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting. Must possess a valid Texas or New Mexico driver license; be insurable by the districts auto liability insurance carrier; subject to the YISD drug and alcohol policy and regulation.
