Summary
The Product Owner at WellDyne defines product vision, manages delivery priorities, and guides product development for assigned products or focus areas. This role partners with business stakeholders, technology teams, and customer-facing teams to translate market needs, pharmacy benefit management requirements, and organizational priorities into high-quality solutions that improve customer satisfaction and business outcomes. The role is expected to leverage AI-enabled tools to improve product discovery, prioritization, requirements development, analysis, communication, and delivery effectiveness. The Product Owner is accountable for ensuring product decisions are informed by stakeholder input, customer impact, operational feasibility, compliance requirements, and measurable business value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Vision and Strategy: Define and communicate the product vision based on market analysis, customer feedback, stakeholder priorities, and organizational goals. Align product strategy with broader business objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Backlog Management: Prioritize and maintain the product backlog, ensuring that all items are clearly described, prioritized, and ready for development.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to ensure that they understand the backlog priorities and the vision for the product. Act as a bridge between the technical team and business stakeholders to ensure clear communication and mutual understanding.
- Iteration Planning: Plan and refine iterations, working within Agile frameworks to ensure consistent progress and timely delivery of product features.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders across the organization to gather requirements, communicate product progress, and incorporate feedback into product development.
- Market and Customer Insights: Continuously gather and analyze market trends and customer feedback to inform product enhancements and innovations.
- AI-Enabled Product Development: Leverage AI tools, automation capabilities, and emerging AI agents to improve product discovery, backlog refinement, requirements analysis, workflow optimization, stakeholder communication, and delivery efficiency while ensuring responsible and compliant use.
- Performance Monitoring: Define, track, and communicate key performance indicators for the product to measure adoption, quality, customer impact, delivery effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement.
- Risk Management: Identify, communicate, and help mitigate risks that could affect product delivery, regulatory compliance, stakeholder alignment, customer experience, or timeline commitments.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure product compliance with industry regulations and standards, particularly in the healthcare and pharmacy sectors.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or related field or relevant experience. Advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or technology sectors preferred.
- Proven track record of successful product ownership in an Agile development environment.
- Experience using AI-enabled productivity, product management, analytics, or software delivery tools; experience with AI agents, workflow automation, or agent-assisted product development preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and principles, and the ability to apply them effectively in product development.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Ability to use AI tools to synthesize stakeholder feedback, analyze product data, draft requirements and user stories, identify trends, and communicate insights clearly to technical and business audiences.
- Working knowledge of responsible AI practices, including appropriate use of AI tools, data privacy, compliance considerations, human oversight, and validation of AI-generated outputs.
- Curiosity and demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging AI capabilities and identify opportunities to responsibly apply them to improve product outcomes, customer experience, and internal workflows.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of the Pharmacy Benefit Management or Mail-Order Pharmacy market, customer needs, and regulatory environment.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
This position is in a typical office environment which requires prolonged sitting in front of a computer. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment including operation of standard computer and phone equipment. May have occasional high stress when dealing with customers/clients. This position is primarily office-based with considerable time spent on meetings, both virtual and in-person, with stakeholders and teams. Occasional travel may be required for market research and stakeholder engagement.
