About VirtDrop

About the Client
Gernie NYC is a premium men’s footwear and accessories brand focused on quality, style, and a refined customer experience. We are looking for a talented, proactive, and detail-oriented professional to take ownership of our Shopify storefront and help elevate our digital presence.
This is an opportunity for someone who combines strong e-commerce expertise with creative judgment and a passion for premium brand presentation. We are looking for more than someone who simply executes assigned tasks. We want an individual who takes initiative, identifies opportunities for improvement, and independently manages the day-to-day operations and continuous development of our online store.
About the Role
The E-Commerce & Digital Brand Manager will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and continuously improving Gernie NYC’s Shopify storefront, ensuring it reflects the brand’s premium aesthetic while delivering an intuitive and engaging shopping experience.
This role combines Shopify management, e-commerce operations, visual merchandising, website optimization, email marketing, and practical graphic design. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for design, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to independently execute both technical and creative tasks.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the website’s overall appearance, functionality, and performance, proactively recommends improvements, and brings fresh ideas to strengthen the brand’s online presence, customer engagement, and sales.
Key Responsibilities
1. Shopify Store Management & Optimization
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Shopify storefront, ensuring the website remains accurate, functional, visually appealing, and up to date.
- Create, update, and optimize product listings, including descriptions, images, pricing, and product details.
- Organize and maintain product collections, categories, navigation, and site structure.
- Monitor website functionality and identify opportunities to improve usability and the overall shopping experience.
- Implement website updates, layout adjustments, and merchandising improvements as needed.
- Identify and troubleshoot website issues, coordinating additional technical support when necessary.
- Continuously review the storefront to identify areas for improvement without requiring constant direction.
2. Visual Merchandising & Digital Brand Presentation
- Maintain a consistent, premium visual identity throughout the website.
- Ensure product presentation, imagery, layouts, and collections align with Gernie NYC’s brand aesthetic.
- Improve the visual organization of products and collections to create a cohesive and engaging shopping experience.
- Review website layouts and identify opportunities to enhance visual hierarchy, navigation, and product discoverability.
- Manage promotional placements, featured products, and seasonal merchandising updates.
- Proactively recommend visual and structural improvements that elevate the overall appearance of the storefront.
3. Graphic Design & Digital Creative Assets
- Create, edit, and update website banners, promotional graphics, and other digital visual assets.
- Design and adapt visuals for email marketing campaigns, promotions, product launches, and seasonal initiatives.
- Use tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar platforms to produce and edit creative assets.
- Ensure all digital materials maintain consistency with the brand’s visual identity and premium positioning.
- Resize, adapt, and optimize existing creative assets for different website sections and marketing channels.
- Independently handle routine design needs without relying on external designers for every task.
Note: This role requires practical graphic design skills and strong visual judgment, rather than specialization in original artwork creation or advanced graphic design.
4. Klaviyo & Email Marketing
- Independently manage Gernie NYC’s email marketing efforts through Klaviyo, from campaign planning and execution to performance analysis and optimization.
- Plan, create, schedule, and execute email marketing campaigns aligned with product launches, promotions, seasonal initiatives, and broader business objectives.
- Design and produce engaging email visuals and branded templates that reflect Gernie NYC’s premium aesthetic.
- Build, manage, and optimize automated email flows, including welcome sequences, abandoned cart reminders, post-purchase communications, and customer re-engagement campaigns.
- Manage customer segmentation and audience targeting to deliver relevant, personalized communications.
- Monitor campaign performance, including open rates, click-through rates, conversions, revenue, and other relevant metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve email engagement, customer retention, and sales through ongoing testing and optimization.
- Proactively recommend new campaigns, automations, and email marketing strategies based on customer behavior and performance data.
- Maintain email content, templates, and campaign assets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with the brand.
- Take ownership of the email marketing process rather than relying on detailed instructions for each campaign or task.
5. E-Commerce Analytics, Website Performance & Customer Experience
- Monitor Shopify analytics and relevant e-commerce performance metrics to evaluate store performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Track key indicators such as conversion rate, traffic, sales, average order value, and product performance.
- Analyze customer behavior and the shopping journey to identify potential friction points, usability issues, and opportunities to improve conversions.
- Proactively recommend and implement improvements to product pages, navigation, merchandising, and the overall customer experience.
- Support conversion rate optimization through thoughtful website updates, testing, and data-informed decisions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of website changes, promotional activities, and merchandising initiatives using performance data.
- Identify trends and opportunities to improve product discovery, customer engagement, and online sales.
- Communicate meaningful insights and actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Stay informed about e-commerce best practices and relevant trends in premium fashion, footwear, and accessories.
6. Initiative, Ownership & Continuous Improvement
- Take full ownership of the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of the Shopify storefront and email marketing activities.
- Proactively identify issues, opportunities, and areas requiring attention.
- Recommend solutions and independently implement appropriate improvements.
- Make routine operational, merchandising, and marketing decisions without requiring constant supervision.
- Bring fresh ideas to improve the website’s visual presentation, functionality, customer experience, and marketing performance.
- Communicate progress, share recommendations, and collaborate with leadership on larger creative and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain a high standard of quality, accuracy, and attention to detail across all aspects of the digital storefront and email marketing operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience managing and maintaining a Shopify e-commerce store.
- Strong understanding of Shopify functionality, product management, collections, themes, and storefront customization.
- Experience with visual merchandising, website presentation, and e-commerce user experience.
- Practical graphic design skills using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar tools.
- Experience creating and editing website banners, promotional graphics, and email marketing visuals.
- Hands-on experience with Klaviyo, including campaign planning and execution, email template creation, automated flows, and customer segmentation.
- Ability to independently manage email marketing activities and identify opportunities to improve engagement and sales.
- Strong understanding of Shopify analytics and e-commerce performance metrics.
- Ability to analyze website and campaign performance and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Experience with conversion rate optimization and customer journey improvement.
- Strong understanding of premium brand aesthetics, visual consistency, and digital presentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards across the website and marketing communications.
- A proactive, independent, and solution-oriented approach to work.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make day-to-day decisions independently while collaborating effectively on broader business objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with men’s fashion, footwear, accessories, luxury, or premium lifestyle brands.
- Experience managing a direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce brand.
- Experience developing and optimizing email marketing strategies for an e-commerce business.
- Familiarity with A/B testing, conversion rate optimization, and e-commerce performance analytics.
- Experience improving Shopify themes, layouts, and storefront design.
- Understanding of customer journey optimization and online merchandising strategies.
- Experience supporting seasonal promotions, product launches, customer retention initiatives, and email marketing campaigns.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a self-directed professional who combines technical e-commerce knowledge with creative judgment, analytical thinking, and a strong sense of ownership.
You should be someone who:
- Notices when something on the website or in an email campaign could be improved and takes the initiative to address it.
- Understands how design, product presentation, merchandising, and email marketing influence the customer experience and purchasing decisions.
- Can independently manage routine website updates, creative tasks, and email marketing activities.
- Understands how to use performance data to identify opportunities and improve results.
- Brings ideas and recommendations rather than simply waiting for instructions.
- Takes pride in maintaining a polished, cohesive, and high-quality digital storefront and brand presence.
- Balances creative thinking with practical execution and measurable business objectives.
We are not looking for a traditional Shopify administrator who only updates products or completes assigned tasks. We want someone who can independently manage the technical, creative, and marketing aspects of our online presence while continuously identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience, strengthen engagement, and increase sales.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means having a well-maintained, visually cohesive, and continuously improving Shopify storefront that accurately reflects Gernie NYC’s premium brand identity.
The right person will take ownership of daily operations, proactively implement improvements, maintain consistent visual merchandising, and manage routine creative needs. They will also independently plan and execute email marketing campaigns, optimize automated flows, use customer segmentation effectively, and monitor performance to identify opportunities for stronger engagement and increased sales.
By using Shopify analytics and email marketing data to guide decisions, this person will help improve the customer journey, optimize conversion rates, and support the brand’s e-commerce growth.
Ultimately, this person will become a trusted member of the team who can manage the digital storefront and email marketing operations with a high degree of independence, allowing leadership to focus on broader business priorities while remaining involved in larger creative and strategic decisions.
