Senior Account Manager – Digital Marketing Agency (Remote, U.S.)
About us: At Spin, recruitment is about more than filling roles; it’s about creating real human connections. We partner with leading U.S. companies to help them hire exceptional talent through a true direct-hire process, ensuring candidates join our clients’ teams directly while we support them throughout the journey.
You’ll join a fast-growing, performance-driven digital marketing agency that partners with established businesses in the home-services industry. The company is scaling quickly, onboarding larger retainer accounts, and building out its client services team. In this growth stage, keeping clients happy and long-term is the top priority.
As a Senior Account Manager, you’ll be the strategic lead for a portfolio of key retainer accounts. You’ll own each relationship end to end and guide a cross-functional delivery team. Clients should see you as a trusted advisor who understands both their business and their marketing. You’ll also mentor the agency’s Account Managers. This is a fully remote role for candidates based in the U.S., reporting to the Account Director.
This is not a sales, SaaS Customer Success or channel specialist role. We’re looking for agency-side account leaders who own client relationships and their results, and who have coached other Account Managers along the way.
Key Goals
- 90%+ annual client retention across your book.
- Proactive risk management: you spot signs of dissatisfaction early and act before they become a problem.
- High client satisfaction, measured through regular client feedback.
- Clear strategic guidance delivered in every business review.
What You’ll Own
- Account leadership. Manage a growing portfolio of high-value accounts as the main strategic contact. Flag at-risk accounts, involve leadership when needed, and reset expectations when that protects results and the team.
- Team coordination. Lead a cross-functional team of specialists across SEO, paid media, web and content. Set clear priorities based on client goals and make sure delivery matches what was agreed.
- Scope management. Keep projects within scope and raise any scope or pricing changes with the Account Director.
- Business reviews. Run regular strategic reviews with clients. Find the root cause behind performance trends and recommend clear next steps.
- Client communication. Turn performance data into clear stories and action plans, and keep clients confident when results go up and down.
- Coaching. Support and guide junior account managers through challenging client situations.
- Mentoring. Coach the agency’s Account Managers and be their first stop when they face a difficult client situation.
What You Bring
- 6+ years as an Account Manager or account leader at a digital marketing agency, owning retainer client relationships end to end.
- Experience owning a book of $1M+ in annual retainer revenue and keeping high-value clients long term, backed by numbers (retention rate, NPS, revenue growth).
- Experience mentoring, coaching or managing other Account Managers.
- Hands-on experience with SEO and paid search (Google Ads), plus solid knowledge of conversion optimization and content.
- Experience leading business reviews with clients and turning performance data into clear recommendations.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Self-directed. You work well with little supervision.
- A consultative mindset. You use data to back up recommendations and look for the real problem instead of only passing requests along.
- Calm and confident in difficult client conversations.
- Curious and coachable. You’re eager to learn new tools and channels and act on feedback.
- A real passion for marketing beyond certifications. Ideally, you have hands-on experience running campaigns and deep knowledge of at least one area, especially direct-response marketing.
- Based in the U.S. and authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice to Have
- Agency experience in performance or growth marketing.
- Experience working with home-services or local service businesses.
- Experience working in small, autonomous client teams.
Salary & Benefits
