Purpose and Scope

The International Regional Director serves assigned countries and regional staff according to the responsibilities delegated by the international director and senior director.

The International Regional Director is a staff leader who reports to the International Director in the International Countries Division. This role focuses on supporting the international field officer equipping them to be successful in their role. Leads and develops international representatives, strengthening communication and accountability across the region, and helping ensure that spiritual leadership and practical ministry execution remain closely connected throughout the countries served.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Alignment
•    Align regional ministry support, staff leadership, and country oversight with the objectives, priorities, and decisions of the International Countries Committee (ICC), International Director, and the International Countries Division.
•    Ensure that performance expectations, strategic direction, and key decisions are clearly communicated from international leadership to international field officers, international representatives, and country leaders.
•    Support the development of a strong, member-led ministry throughout the region by reinforcing the proper use of the Operations Manual and international countries-related manuals.

Collaborative Support
•    Develop strong relational connections with international field officers, international representatives, and country leaders across the assigned region.
•    Primarily support the international field officer while helping staff and leaders work together effectively to advance the Association's mission.
•    Coach and model leadership practices that balance spiritual readiness with the practical work of the Association.
•    Recommend members to the IAT who can serve as international field officers.
•    Recommend National Leadership Team members to the international field officer based on insights gained through international representatives and regional leadership engagement.

Communication and Information Flow
•    Serve as a communications hub from the international director to international representatives, international field officers, country chairman, and country leaders.
•    Ensure timely, clear, and actionable communication of performance objectives, ministry priorities, policy expectations, and operational decisions throughout the region.
•    Provide the international director, international representatives, and International Area Team with meaningful performance information so areas and regions can be managed effectively.
•    Support annual membership renewal by supplying relevant information to the international director and proposing action plans to address identified needs.

Support Country Leaders (NLT)
•    Equip staff and leaders so that The Gideons International thrives as a spiritual ministry in which Christian business and professional men strengthen their testimony and fulfill their God-given responsibilities as spiritual leaders.
•    Train, encourage, and model effective leadership development through engaging presentations, effective workshops, and practical follow-through, as requested by the IFO or IAT with the authorization of the international director. 
•    Guide regional teams in the practical work of engaging members, candidates, and pastors in the mission of the Association, as requested by the IFO or IAT with the authorization of the international director. 
•    Assist with National Conferences as needed, while exercising discernment about when direct attendance is most beneficial.
•    Actively oversee that every International Scripture Blitz and In Country Blitz is properly planned and informs the IFO if corrective actions need to be implemented.

Organizational Continuity and Knowledge Management
•    Ensure that regional member leaders and staff have the information, context, and guidance needed to sustain ministry continuity and sound decision-making.
•    Coordinate with international field officers and National Leadership Teams on country Scripture orders, ensuring inventory levels and anticipated needs are considered.
•    Promote consistent use of policies, procedures, manuals, and reporting practices across the region.
•    Maintain strong oversight of staffing recommendations, leadership development, and regional follow-through so knowledge and momentum are not lost between leadership cycles.

Monitoring and Review
•    Assess regional performance, ministry health, leadership effectiveness, and operational execution across the countries served.
•    Assess compliance with International Cabinet policies, procedures, and standards, as well as with local laws related to registrations and required government reports.
•    Monitor execution of regional initiatives, including membership renewal efforts, leadership development, Scripture operations, and Blitz activities, and intervene when course correction is needed.
•    Approve IR’s expenses within the assigned regional scope in a responsible and accountable manner.

Partnership Between Members and Staff
•    Lead a team of international representatives by rallying them to diligently pursue the Association's strategy for the International Countries Committee.
•    Model a partnership between spiritual leadership and administrative effectiveness, showing how character and practical stewardship work together in ministry.
•    Foster trust-based collaboration among staff and volunteer leaders, encouraging clarity of roles, healthy communication, and shared ownership of mission outcomes.
•      His primary line of communication with member leaders is through the IFO, while keeping the international director informed.

Expected Outcomes

•    International field officers, international representatives, and country leaders are better aligned with international priorities, decisions, and performance objectives.
•    Regional staff teams are well-led, developed, and equipped to support a strong member-led ministry across the region.
•    Country and regional leaders receive better performance information, clearer communication, and stronger coaching for ministry effectiveness.
•    Leadership development, Scripture Blitz planning, membership renewal, and Scripture order coordination are carried out with greater consistency and effectiveness.
•    Regional operations demonstrate stronger compliance, better stewardship of resources, and improved follow-through on strategic initiatives.

Guiding Principle

The International Regional Director leads by coaching and modeling Christ-centered leadership, demonstrating that spiritual preparation, godly character, and practical stewardship must work together for The Gideons International to thrive as a faithful and effective ministry.

•    Lead through coaching, example, encouragement, and consistent accountability in ways that strengthen both staff and volunteer leaders.

Reports To:                            Director, International Headquarters Operations

Works Closely With:    International Countries Committee, International Cabinet and National Leadership Teams (Externally)

Work Environment and Time Requirements
•    Climate-controlled office environment
•    8-hour workday while at the office. Longer workdays are required during field assignments. 
•    Variations in work volume sometimes require extended working hours

Minimum Qualifications
•    Active Gideon Member in good standing
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
•    Ability to travel
•    Demonstrated communicator, presenter, and collaborator, with the experience and ability to effectively influence at all levels both internally and externally
•    PC experience, especially in Microsoft Office applications
•    Successful completion of a drug and background screen

Preferred Qualifications
•    Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred
•    Master’s degree or equivalent experience
