How we work
You’ll be part of a
globally distributed team built on trust, ownership, and self-management.
We focus on
outcomes over activity — prioritizing clear ownership, pragmatic decision-making, and accountability for results over rigid processes. Collaboration is central to how we operate: we communicate openly, involve the right people early, and continuously improve how we build products and teams together.
About this role
We’re looking for a
Founding Product Engineer to own a product domain end to end – from customer problem to business outcome –
reporting directly to our CTO. Think of it as running a startup within a startup: you talk to customers, decide what’s worth building, and ship it yourself, using AI agents to move at founder speed. This is a Staff-level individual-contributor role – no direct reports, full ownership of your domain.
It’s a fully remote role, we are hiring
across European timezones.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for solving a high impact business problem – set the vision and roadmap, write the production code, and stay accountable for delivery, quality, product decisions, and production.
- Talk directly to customers and business stakeholders to understand their context, and turn what you learn into a clear, prioritized roadmap.
- Prioritize by business impact vs risk – cut features that don’t move the needle and defend trade-offs to any stakeholder.
- Move from experiment to production-ready solution in days, using AI to generate specs, tests, and documentation on the fly.
- Orchestrate the full development lifecycle with AI coding agents – directing, reviewing, and scaling their output.
- Act as the quality gate for AI output, keeping your domain free of architectural drift and “AI slop”.
- Design and refine AI-assisted workflows for your domain, and share what works so other engineers can adopt it.
- Keep your domain fast and autonomous – favor direct coordination, observability, and async decisions over meetings and process overhead.
What you bring
- Staff-level engineering depth: you design, build, and ship production systems independently, and reason about distributed systems, data integrity, and trade-offs from experience.
- Strong business acumen: you understand how customers use a product and how technical decisions affect the business – and you’ve made trade-offs based on that.
- A track record of end-to-end ownership – shipping your own products, early-stage or founding experience, or high-accountability roles where outcomes rested on you.
- Product-owner mindset: you turn ambiguous requirements into a clear, prioritized roadmap without layers of alignment.
- Advanced AI fluency: you’ve designed agentic development workflows against real codebases, can explain what you changed in the codebase and process to make agents effective, and can coach other engineers to do the same.
- Direct, transparent communication in professional English with customers, business stakeholders, and executives.
What we offer
At TaxDome, we aim to create an environment where people can do their best work and grow alongside the company.
- Competitive compensation, paid in USD, transparently shared before the first interview
- Performance-based internal incentive plan
- Fully remote work with flexible hours
- 30 paid days off annually, plus sick days as needed
- Health & well-being support
- Learning & development budget to support your professional growth
- English lessons reimbursement
- Co-working space reimbursement
- Company-provided equipment (conditions may vary depending on the role)
- A high level of autonomy and ownership in your work
- The opportunity to make a real impact in a fast-growing global SaaS company
- A collaborative, international team with a strong product mindset
Upon successful completion of the interview process and acceptance of the offer to join, an
employment verification check will be conducted as part of pre-boarding — confirming job titles and dates of engagement with 2 of your previous employers. This is a required step for all new joiners.
