Software Developer Intern
THE POSITION
The Software Developer Intern works in our Markham, Ontario office and reports to the Solutions Architect for the homebuilding industry's leading-edge enterprise software product. Working within a Scrum team, this role focuses on delivering product solutions in our NX ERP - designing, building, testing, and shipping features end to end under architectural guidance. The main goal is to increase the delivery throughput of the current development team, using AI-assisted development throughout the SDLC to accelerate work while keeping the product high-performing, resilient, and maintainable.
Responsibilities include:
- Study and understand the application's functionality, workflow, and design.
- Take product requirements and user stories and deliver them end to end - design, build, test, and ship - under architectural guidance.
- Build responsive, multi-tier web features across the full stack: front end, .NET services, and SQL.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up coding, refactoring, and review, while keeping output reliable.
- Clear backlog items, fix defects, and reduce technical debt.
- Collaborate through Git branching, pull requests, and code review, and turn feedback around quickly.
- Help break down, estimate, and sequence work so sprints stay predictable.
- Document what you build for maintainability and team visibility.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Able to work from the Markham, Ontario office.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile/Scrum delivery.
- Experience building multi-tier, distributed web solutions with an emphasis on responsive design.
- Understanding of development best practices in a multi-developer team using a shared code repository (Git): branching, pull requests, code review.
- Hands-on experience in full-stack development:
- HTML5, TypeScript, JavaScript, stylesheets (Angular an asset)
- .NET
- SQL query
- Object-Oriented Design
- Test-Driven Development; ability to write unit and integration tests
- Ability to take a requirement and deliver it with minimal rework.
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants and prompt engineering to accelerate delivery (asset).
- Exposure to test automation frameworks such as Playwright (asset).
- Exposure to Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines) (asset).
- Comfort ramping quickly in a large existing codebase, with strong debugging skills (asset).
Salary Range (Ontario & BC Only):
The estimated base salary range for this role is CAD$22.50 - CAD$27.50 per hour.
