Solutions Sales Engineer
Superlinear is building Holon, an Enterprise Orchestration Platform for the physical economy.
Large companies that move or make goods run every part of their operation on its own system. One decides what stock is needed, another plans the warehouse, another plans the trucks. Each system optimises its own KPI, so a decision that looks right to logistics quietly costs margin in commercial. Companies leave two to four percentage points of EBITDA on the table this way. Not because their departments are inefficient, but because no tool optimises the end-to-end chain. We call it the Orchestration Gap.
That’s where Enterprise Orchestration comes in. Not another tool for one of your departments, but the first system that optimises departments jointly against one objective: net contribution.
Backed by a €6M Series A, we intend to unlock a 1% increase in EU GDP. Profitable enterprises are the engine that funds our society, so every point of efficiency we unlock in the physical economy is a resource Europe gets back. That is the shift we’re after: from a world of scarcity to a world of possibility.
As a Solutions Sales Engineer at Superlinear, you are focused on market penetration. Deals are large and complex: multi-stakeholder, COO or CEO as buyer, IT and Finance as gatekeepers, sales cycles measured in months. Every deal starts by earning the right to reframe a problem they think is already covered.
The role
You get to open a market. Europe's largest retailers know margin is leaking between their departments; nobody has ever shown them where, or what it is worth. You are the person who does, and you own that from the first cold conversation to a signed deal.
That means building it yourself. You create the conversations: outreach to retailers, expert and partner calls, until you are in front of someone who runs the operation. Then the discovery, working out where margin is actually leaking between departments, putting a number on it, and showing what it would take to recover it. Progressing pipeline in collaboration with Account Executives, deal by deal, until the business case is theirs rather than ours.
Done well, you are the trusted advisor rather than "the technical person on the call": the one who understands their operation better than they expected, and is therefore believed when they say what is possible.
What you'll do
Create the conversations. Outreach and prospecting, plus expert and partner conversations, to open doors at Europe's largest retailers and gather market input as you go.
Understand the prospect deeply. Map how their value chain actually works, find where departments optimise locally at the expense of the whole, and quantify what that costs them.
Build the business case. Turn their challenges into a defensible financial case a CFO will sign off on.
Own technical trust. IT and Finance are our gatekeepers. Integration, data readiness, governance, auditability, security. You answer these credibly rather than deferring them to a follow-up call.
Prove it on their operation. Run demos and workshops that show Holon against real retailer problems, not a generic dataset.
Progress the pipeline. Work deals forward with our Account Executives and founders, then hand over cleanly to deployment once one is signed.
Feed the loop. Bring market insights back into positioning, product and marketing so the next conversation is easier than the last.
What we're looking for
5+ years in pre-sales, solution consulting, or top-tier consulting in supply chain, operations or planning. You've been the person a client trusts in the room.
An expert at discovery. This matters more than anything else on this list. You get to the real problem because you know how to ask, not because someone briefed you.
You know 80% is in the preparation. You do the homework on the company and the operation before the call, so the time in the room is spent on what you couldn't have known.
Agile in conversation. You listen, and you tailor your questions and your pitch to the person in front of you rather than running a script.
You can build a business case a CFO believes. Comfortable with P&L logic, cost-to-serve, margin mechanics, and defending assumptions under pressure.
Diagnostic before prescriptive. You listen and map before you present. You've walked away from deals you knew wouldn't work.
Technically deep, commercially fluent. Comfortable discussing optimisation and data models with engineers, and margin with a COO, in the same afternoon.
A fast learner. Our market, our product and our story are all still moving. You pick things up quickly and don't wait to be trained.
Happy to travel. Our prospects are across Europe and the important conversations happen on their site.
