Environmental Markets Analyst – Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)

Position Overview

The Environmental Markets Analyst will support Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) operations by analyzing production and operational data used in the generation of environmental/carbon credits. This role will monitor facility performance, reconcile large datasets, identify data-quality issues, develop regulatory reporting, and uncover opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.

The analyst will work closely with operations, engineering, planning, auditors, and regulatory stakeholders and should be comfortable connecting data trends to actual plant and facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large operational datasets supporting RNG production and environmental credit generation.
• Monitor facility performance using Power BI and other data visualization tools.
• Perform data reconciliation, trend analysis, and root-cause analysis.
• Identify inaccurate, incomplete, or abnormal data and work with operations/engineering to resolve issues.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Analyze operational trends to identify optimization and profitability opportunities.
• Investigate operational issues and connect data findings to physical plant processes.
• Improve and streamline processes associated with environmental credit generation.
• Partner with operations, facilities engineering, and short- and mid-range planning teams.
• Build relationships with auditors and regulatory stakeholders and support/host facility site visits.
• Lead projects and participate in cross-functional initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong data analysis experience, including advanced Excel.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Strong data reconciliation and data-quality analysis skills.
• Experience performing trend and root-cause analysis.
• Ability to identify bad, missing, or incomplete operational data.
• Experience using data analysis to identify profitability or optimization opportunities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate operational issues.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work across cross-functional teams.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to consistently meet monthly reporting deadlines.
• Technical curiosity and strong self-motivation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar technical/process background.
• Plant, manufacturing, energy, or facility operations experience.
• Experience with process monitoring and optimization.
• Experience working closely with operations and facilities engineering.
• Experience with Power BI, PI System, PI Vision, Power Apps, or similar visualization/operational data tools.
• Environmental markets, environmental compliance, carbon-credit, or RNG experience.
• Previous experience as a Process Engineer, Commercial Analyst, Financial Analyst, Environmental Specialist, or Operations Scheduler.
