Head of US ETF Liquidity Solutions, MD - State Street Investment Management
We are seeking a senior leader to serve as Head of US ETF Liquidity Solutions, responsible for commercializing and deepening relationships across the dealer and institutional trading ecosystem, positioning our ETF range as a portfolio trading, hedging, and implementation vehicle.
Additionally, the role will build and scale a differentiated execution advisory capability – partnering with clients to optimize ETF usage, liquidity access, and advise on trading strategy across both primary and secondary markets. With responsibility of a commercial growth target, this leader will have accountability for both supporting and driving revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercialization of Dealer Relationships
- Lead and expand strategic relationships with sell-side trading, structuring, and capital markets businesses.
- Influence how dealers and institutional clients utilize ETFs across:
- Trading strategies
- Central risk books
- Structured products and derivatives
- Secure dealer support for ETF product innovation, including seed capital, market-making commitments, and launch-day liquidity.
- Partner with dealers to expand distribution of State Street ETFs through research, conferences, webinars, model portfolios, and institutional client events.
- Identify and cultivate institutional ETF users, leveraging the dealer ecosystem to drive engagement, adoption, and flows.
- Develop new commercialization opportunities that embed State Street ETFs within dealer platforms, investment solutions, and client workflows.
- Establish State Street as the preferred ETF partner for dealer-led products.
2. Execution Advisory & Solutions
- Provide execution advisory services to institutional and wealth clients, including:
- ETF implementation strategy (primary vs. secondary markets)
- Liquidity access considerations and timing
- Market impact awareness and cost considerations
- Advise clients on integrating ETFs into broader trading, hedging, and portfolio workflows.
- Deliver insight-driven guidance based on market structure, trading dynamics, and observed liquidity conditions.
- Partner with internal distribution teams to identify, influence, and expand ETF use cases and drive adoption across client segments.
3. Market Intelligence & Product Feedback Loop
- Serve as a conduit of market intelligence from dealer desks, including:
- Trading behavior and flow trends
- Competitive positioning (e.g., SPY, SPYM, and peers, Sectors, Other Liquidity ETFs)
- Client demand related to liquidity and implementation
- Provide insights to inform product development, capital markets strategy, and client positioning.
Strategic Importance of the Role
This role is central to:
- Driving ETF adoption within the dealer and institutional trading ecosystem
- Growing market share in key categories (e.g., S&P 500 ETFs, Sector & Industry ETFs, Nasdaq 100)
- Delivering a differentiated execution advisory offering
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in capital markets, ETF markets, trading, or institutional client coverage.
- Ideally, deep relationships across:
- Dealer trading desks and structuring teams
- Institutional clients
- Strong expertise in:
- ETF market structure (primary and secondary)
- Trading strategies and implementation considerations
- Cross-asset positioning (equities, derivatives, financing)
- Proven commercial track record and ability to influence client behavior and outcomes.
- Ability to engage credibly with senior external clients and internal stakeholders.
Salary Range:
$170,000 - $282,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
