Senior Accountant

Full Time
United States of America, New York City
$86k - $122.9k USD/yr

We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our global Revenue Accounting operations team, supporting the Paid Revenue segment — including Premium, Partner, and Other Paid Revenues. This role sits within the Order-to-Cash (OTC) process and is central to driving Spotify's €15B+ Premium subscription business.

This is a high-visibility role with broad cross-functional exposure. You'll be a central partner across core business initiatives, working closely with teams across Finance and the wider Spotify ecosystem. You'll be responsible for the preparation and first-level review of analytics, journal entries, reconciliations, accounting system and process testing, and related tasks.

We're looking for someone with a strong sense of curiosity and the ability to think strategically as the Premium Revenue environment continues to pursue operational efficiency at scale. Clear communication and organisational skills are essential given the large footprint and varied workflow of Paid Revenue Accounting.

What You'll Do
  • Own the detailed coordination of accounting for all components of the Paid Revenue segment, inclusive of Premium, Partner, and Other Paid Revenues.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control requirements.
  • Execute and review month-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses.
  • Identify operational efficiency opportunities and collaborate with leadership to drive process improvements.
  • Lead strategic efficiency work end to end — drafting proposals, coordinating with Engineering and business stakeholders, scoping, testing, and reviewing outputs.
  • Support new business initiatives from a financial accounting perspective, scaling operational process flows to adapt to new business demands.
  • Coordinate with onshore and offshore team members to achieve key operational metrics.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and enhancements, and perform ad hoc analyses as needed.

Who You Are
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably with companies in SaaS, Digital Commerce, Payments, or Digital Media operating at scale.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA or CA licence preferred.
  • A mixture of Big 4 and industry experience is preferred.
  • Advanced data and systems skills; AI and SQL proficiency a plus.
  • A tech-forward mindset and the curiosity to grow through changing environments.
  • Experience with NetSuite or comparable ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sharp attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and time zones.

Where You'll Be
  • This role is based in New York City.
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best, with 2–3 days per week in the office.

The United States base range for this position is $86,046 - $122,923, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six-month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
