Project – the aim you’ll have
Lead delivery of a next-generation risk analysis and scoring platform for a payments technology company. It combines the client’s risk rules with AI-driven, pre-scored risk feeds from a global card network over a Microsoft Fabric data estate. You’ll lead an AI-first team of C#/.NET and React developers, a Python developer and a data platform engineer – a hands-on role with about 70% coding.
Role – how you’ll contribute
- Design, build and ship production C#/.NET services, APIs and React features, taking on the hardest slices when the team is blocked
- Contribute to and review the team’s Python work, holding it to the same standard as the .NET codebase
- Use Claude Code or an equivalent agentic coding tool as your primary accelerator, backed by automated tests, and harden AI-generated code before it reaches production
- Deploy via Docker, Helm and Azure DevOps pipelines to AKS, and integrate services with the Microsoft Fabric data estate
- Translate the architecture group’s designs into technical plans, task breakdowns and code-level designs
- Run code reviews and set engineering standards for testing, review practices and AI tooling (CLAUDE.md files, custom commands, guardrails)
- Track technical status, surface risks early, and unblock and mentor developers through reviews and pairing
- Act as the team’s technical point of contact with the client: lead stand-ups, join design reviews, report status and ensure clean handoffs
Expectations – the experience you need
- 12+ years of commercial software development, including 5+ years as a technical lead on production systems
- Expert C#/.NET (ASP.NET Core, REST API design, async, EF Core or Dapper) with active hands-on .NET coding in the last 12 months
- Working proficiency in Python (typing, async, FastAPI, pytest) and in React and TypeScript, enough to build features and review code
- Relational database and distributed-systems skills: schema design, query tuning, transactional correctness, idempotency, failure handling
- Docker, Kubernetes (AKS preferred), Helm, CI/CD (Azure DevOps or similar) and working knowledge of Terraform
- Daily use of agentic AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot Workspace, Codex or similar) and experience setting AI-tooling standards for a team – you’ll demo your workflow live
- Proven ability to lead distributed teams through design and code reviews without direct authority, with clear written communication
- Ability to operate autonomously with minimal ramp-up in an existing codebase
Additional skills – the edge you have
- Payments, card processing, risk/fraud or merchant services experience, ideally with PCI DSS-scoped systems
- Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake or building services over analytical data stores
- Shipped LLM-backed or agentic features: RAG, LangGraph or similar, and evaluation practices
- Messaging, observability and identity: Service Bus, Event Hubs or Kafka; OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor; OAuth2/OIDC, Entra ID
- Prior consulting or staff-augmentation experience leading a team embedded in a client organization
