Growth Product Manager (18-20 Month Mat Leave)
You're naturally curious about what drives customer behaviour and where opportunities for growth exist. You know how to turn market insights into strategies, bring people together and deliver measurable results.
Smart, Savvy + Associates is pleased to partner with Technical Safety BC in their search for a Growth Product Manager in a 18-20 month maternity leave contract.Β
In this role, you'll lead growth initiatives that increase participation in BC's regulated safety system, strengthen compliance and generate sustainable revenue in support of public safety.
You'll look at where opportunities exist, why certain businesses and individuals aren't participating in the system and what it would take to change that. Using market research, client insights and data, you'll develop strategies that address barriers, influence behaviour and improve how people access and use Technical Safety BC's services.
This is a role that brings together product growth, commercial strategy and marketing. You'll take ownership of an established program while identifying new opportunities, developing targeted campaigns and working across the organization to test ideas and bring successful approaches to market.
You'll work closely with teams across Operations, Marketing and Communications, Client Experience and Product, bringing the business acumen, curiosity and influence needed to move initiatives forward.
What You'll DoΒ
Identify and develop growth opportunitiesΒ
- Analyze market trends, client behaviour and business performance to identify opportunities to increase participation, compliance and revenue.
- Investigate the factors contributing to BC's underground economy, including why businesses may operate outside the regulated safety system.
- Develop strategies to address barriers to participation, improve client retention and encourage compliant behaviour.
- Build business cases, evaluate opportunities and use data to guide priorities and investment decisions.
Turn insights into actionΒ
- Lead growth initiatives and targeted campaigns, working with Marketing and Communications and other internal teams to reach and engage industry audiences.
- Develop and test new approaches to client acquisition, engagement and retention, measuring results and refining strategies along the way.
- Support initiatives such as increasing awareness and adoption of permit requirements among contractors and industry professionals.
- Work with cross-functional teams to bring successful ideas from initial research and testing through to implementation.
Lead through collaboration and influenceΒ
- Partner with Product, Client Experience, Field Operations and other stakeholders to identify challenges and opportunities across the client journey.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives, building alignment and moving work forward without relying on formal authority.
- Provide direction and support to a direct-report Analyst, using research and data to inform growth strategies.
- Present findings, recommendations and results to senior leadership, helping guide business priorities and decisions.
- Build relationships with industry stakeholders, clients and external partners to better understand market needs and opportunities.
What You BringΒ
- 7+ years of progressive experience in product growth, commercial strategy, business development, channel marketing or a related discipline, with demonstrated success identifying and delivering growth opportunities.
- Strong business acumen, including experience with financial analysis, forecasting, business cases and evaluating commercial opportunities.
- Experience developing and executing growth strategies that influence customer acquisition, adoption, engagement or retention.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns and turn market and customer insights into practical recommendations.
- Experience working directly with clients or customers to understand their needs, motivations and barriers.
- The ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, build relationships and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience testing new ideas, measuring outcomes and adapting strategies based on what the evidence shows.
- A strategic mindset paired with a hands-on approach. You're comfortable identifying opportunities and taking ownership of the work needed to deliver results.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders and diverse stakeholder groups.
- A degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice to HaveΒ
- Experience in a complex, enterprise-level organization such as telecommunications, utilities or regulated services.
- Familiarity with product marketing, go-to-market strategy or service innovation.
- Experience applying behavioural insights, customer research or human-centred design to business challenges.
- Experience working in environments where commercial goals must be balanced with regulatory requirements or public-interest outcomes.
