Staff Level Platform Engineer

Job title: Staff Level Platform Engineer (Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform)

Contract Length: 12-24 months+

Rate: €110+ per hour

Role Location: Hybrid - Utrecht or Amsterdam (1-2 days per week onsite). Candidates must be NL based and speak Dutch + English

A large, well-known global organisation working on transformation programmes

Role and Responsibilities:
Signify have partnered up with an established organisation to hire 2 x Staff Level Platform Engineers. You will join one of two platform teams as the company scales its Dutch capabilities:

• Team 1: Own compute and networking, all Azure-based. You will play a key role in a major Azure subscription migration, re-architecting from a single subscription to separate ones, expected to run 12+ months.
• Team 2 (Self-service): Launching early 2027, this team owns Backstage and platform self-service. You will help shift the organisation from Jira/GitHub ticket-based operations to true self-service. The tooling decision is still open (currently trialling Cortex), so you will help shape it.

Job Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering (not just sys or DevOps engineering)
• Must have a product engineering mindset/approach, not a ticket-handler or ops-only profile
• Fundamentals team: strong skills in Azure, Kubernetes and Terraform (FortiGate desirable)
• Self-service team: Kubernetes and Terraform important, but a strong AWS/self-service background will be considered. Backstage experience desirable
• Experience leading teams
• Track record building and maintaining high-traffic, performance platforms with wide organisational impact
• Confident turning product and business requirements into technical solutions
• A team player who collaborates well across teams and is curious about where the wider organisation is heading
• Must be based in the Netherlands and speak Dutch + English
