We are looking for a Quality Manager - GIS Factroy Liaison. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

The Quality Manager serves as the single point of contact (POC) between the SI EA US organization and assigned manufacturing facilities (primarily Frankfurt) for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) equipment.

This role is accountable for monitoring, analyzing, and driving improvements in quality performance across US projects, ensuring that factory-originated non-conformances are effectively resolved through validated corrective actions and sustained process improvements.

The position requires strong collaboration with factory Quality Management teams and involves regular on-site engagement to verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Factory Interface & Ownership
    • Act as the primary quality interface between SI EA US project teams and GIS manufacturing facilities (Frankfurt and others as assigned)
    • Ensure clear communication and alignment on quality issues, priorities, and escalation topics
    • Represent US customer expectations and project-specific quality requirements to factory teams
    • Support alignment across regions to address process gaps and ensure consistency in execution
  • Defect Trend Analysis & Reporting
    • Review and analyze defect data across US GIS projects, identifying recurring issues, systemic failures, and high-risk areas
    • Consolidate data into trend reports and actionable insights for both US and factory stakeholders
    • Drive data-based prioritization of improvement initiatives
    • Ensure reporting supports reduction of cost of poor quality and customer-impacting defects
  • 8D Review & Corrective Action Validation
    • Review and challenge 8D reports provided by factories for completeness, accuracy, and depth of root cause analysis
    • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are:
    • Clearly defined
    • Properly implemented
    • Verified for effectiveness (not just closure)
    • Drive accountability with factories for timely and high-quality responses to customer issues
    • Escalate insufficient or ineffective corrective actions
  • On-Site Validation & Audit (Quarterly Travel)
    • Travel to assigned factories (e.g., Frankfurt) on an as needed basis (ie. Quarterly, bimonthly) to:
    • Validate implementation of corrective actions from 8Ds
    • Confirm effectiveness of process improvements
    • Perform targeted audits on high-risk areas
    • Collaborate with factory QM teams to:
    • Align on lessons learned
    • Standardize best practices
    • Identify additional improvement opportunities
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with:
    • US QMiP
    • Product Care and Engineering
    • Factory Quality and Manufacturing teams
    • Support root cause investigations and resolution of critical field issues
    • Drive a closed-loop feedback system between US projects and factories
    • Facilitate the negotiation of NCC charge backs between WLL and the factory
  • Continuous Improvement & Prevention
    • Identify systemic issues and drive preventive measures across projects and factories
    • Promote the use of structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, FMEA, etc.)
    • Ensure lessons learned are:
    • Documented
    • Shared across teams
    • Embedded into processes and standards
