Short Summary:
Sezzle is seeking a talented Principal Engineer for Data Infrastructure to thrive in a dynamic environment, focusing on empowering the organization to read, write, and analyze large volumes of data efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- End to end ownership of database and data warehousing infrastructure, including MySQL, Postgres, CDC capture, and Redshift.
- Lead optimizations in database and query performance.
- Build and maintain tooling for managing and upgrading data infrastructure.
- Partner with Development to ensure solid queries against a battle-tested schema.
- Help evolve data systems with necessary tooling for high volumes of writes and events.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to guide the evolution of data infrastructure.
- Assist data engineers and analysts in optimizing Redshift and warehouse performance.
Requirement:
- 12+ years of experience in DBA, SRE, or Data Engineering roles.
- Deep expertise with MySQL, Postgres, AWS Redshift, including performance tuning and workload management.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL.
- Strong hands-on experience with data replication and ETL/ELT frameworks, especially DBT and AWS DMS.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, distributed systems, and warehouse/lake design patterns.
- Experience with Claude or equivalent large language model tools.
