Senior Product Designer I

Are you excited by the challenge of shaping the future of healthcare? Do you enjoy solving complex problems where innovation, usability and clinical safety are equally important? Are you curious about how AI is transforming the way we design and build products?

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer who combines excellent design craft with strong product thinking, technical curiosity and a collaborative mindset.

You'll help shape intuitive, trustworthy clinical experiences, working closely with clinicians, Product, Engineering and Clinical Safety specialists. We're looking for someone who understands the responsibility of designing for healthcare but isn't afraid to challenge established approaches, experiment and explore new possibilities.

About Semble

At Semble, we're on a mission to enable health professionals to amplify their impact. Our cloud-based clinical system helps thousands of healthcare professionals deliver better care through powerful, intuitive and secure software.

We're a passionate team united by three cultural drivers:

Impact – We do work that matters.

Collaboration – We are in it together.

Human touch – We care deeply.

We're also embracing AI, both in how we work and in the products we build. We're looking for people who share our curiosity about emerging technologies and are excited to explore their potential responsibly.

This role can be fully remote in the UK or France.

What you will be doing

As a Senior Product Designer within our Clinical team, you'll design experiences that support healthcare professionals in making decisions, documenting care and managing complex clinical workflows.

You'll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers and Clinical Safety specialists, balancing innovation with the responsibility of creating safe, reliable healthcare technology.

You'll also help evolve how our design team works, using AI and emerging technologies to explore ideas, learn faster and deliver better outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own complex clinical design challenges – Lead design work from discovery through delivery, translating user needs, clinical requirements and technical constraints into intuitive, accessible solutions.
• Balance innovation with clinical safety – Work alongside Clinical Safety specialists to identify risks, challenge assumptions and design appropriate safeguards, without introducing unnecessary complexity.
• Deliver value iteratively – Break down complex problems into manageable, valuable increments, balancing speed of delivery with user needs, clinical safety and long-term product quality.
• Embrace AI and emerging technologies – Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate research, exploration, prototyping and iteration, and identify opportunities for AI and automation to improve clinical workflows.
• Prototype and experiment – Move confidently between Figma, functional prototypes and AI-assisted development tools to bring ideas to life, test assumptions and validate solutions early.
• Facilitate collaborative problem-solving – Bring Product, Engineering and Clinical Safety together to explore opportunities, navigate different perspectives and reach well-informed decisions.
• Conduct user research – Build relationships with healthcare professionals through interviews, field visits and usability testing, translating insights into meaningful product improvements.

What we are looking for

At this level, we expect you to work with a high degree of autonomy, independently owning complex design challenges and influence decisions beyond your immediate workstream.

We're looking for someone who combines strong design fundamentals with sound judgement, curiosity and a constructive approach to collaboration.

Key skills and experience

• Complex, high-risk product experience – Proven experience designing clinical systems or similarly high-risk software, where errors can have significant consequences. Experience working alongside safety, risk or regulatory specialists.
• Excellent design craft – Strong UX, interaction and visual design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating complex workflows, accessible interfaces and shipped product experiences.
• Innovation and safety judgement – Ability to explore ambitious solutions while understanding risk, recognising trade-offs and knowing when a simpler, more predictable approach is appropriate.
• Practical AI experience – A proven track record of using AI-assisted tools to improve your design workflow, with examples of how you've applied them to research, exploration, prototyping or delivery.
• Research and product thinking – Experience conducting user research, navigating ambiguity and using evidence to make informed design decisions that deliver measurable outcomes.
• Collaborative facilitation – Ability to bring people together, constructively challenge assumptions, welcome different perspectives and help teams move towards shared decisions.
• Ownership and adaptability – Comfortable leading work independently, taking responsibility for outcomes, embracing feedback and continuously evolving your approach.

Nice to have

• Experience designing EHRs, EMRs, clinical decision-support systems or AI-powered healthcare products.
• Experience designing AI-powered workflows, automation or intelligent decision-support experiences.
• First-hand experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting.

What you'll get in return

• The great feeling coming with knowing you do something that matters: shaping the future of healthcare!
• £70-80k (based on your experience and the value you can bring)
• Autonomy and ownership – we’ll set the vision and share the context, then we trust you to run with things – that’s the reason we hire you!
• 36 days off: 25 holidays +bank holidays +3 extra days (birthday and ‘feel good’ days) - that we will expect you to actually take so you can recharge and rest.
• Private Health Insurance – covering physical and mental health, as well as dental and optical!
• Hybrid and flexible work environment – work from anywhere in the UK, with also some flexibility to work across Europe. You decide how much or how little you go to the office.
• Get the tech you need - You will get the latest MacBook (unless you prefer Windows) and take your pick across a wide range of equipment to set up your home office ergonomically.
• Work alongside an inspiring team – our two founders have started Semble after a successful startup exit, and your future colleagues are all knowledgeable and innovators in their field.
• Fantastic office space in Central London, right outside Monument - with a roof terrace, weekly animations, loads of natural light, and cute doggies!
• The usual free bits coming with nice offices (barista coffee, tea, fruits, happy hours and activities...).

Diversity and inclusion

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including groups traditionally underrepresented in technology. We encourage applications from disabled and neurodivergent candidates and are happy to make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
