Who We Are

Rocscience is a global provider of engineering modelling, analysis, and design software across geotechnical, mining, structural, hydrogeology, and energy geomechanics applications.

Engineers and geoscientists rely on Rocscience’s category-leading platform to model scenarios, collaborate across disciplines, and make better decisions on safety-critical projects. Built-in AI capabilities automate routine workflows, so customers can focus on delivering designs that are technically rigorous and economically sound.

Founded in 1996, Rocscience is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with operations throughout the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

The Role

We are looking for a Full Stack Web Developer to help build and evolve Rocscience’s web-based engineering applications.

You’ll work across the full development stack, building intuitive front-end experiences, reliable back-end services, and interactive 2D and 3D interfaces that help engineers work with complex technical data.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving challenging technical problems, cares about software quality, and wants to build products used by engineers around the world. This role follows our hybrid work model, with in-office work Monday through Thursday and the option to work from home on Fridays.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain front-end and back-end web applications.
  • Build interactive 2D and 3D interfaces for engineering modelling and visualization.
  • Develop APIs and integrations that connect Rocscience applications and systems.
  • Translate technical requirements into practical, scalable software solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
  • Troubleshoot and improve new and existing applications.
  • Contribute to technical design decisions and evaluate new technologies and development approaches.
  • Collaborate with Software Development, Product, Engineering, and other technical teams.

What You’ll Bring

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong software development experience, including modern front-end and back-end web technologies.
  • Strong object-oriented programming and JavaScript and/or TypeScript skills.
  • Experience developing APIs, working with databases, and writing automated tests.
  • Strong understanding of software development practices, including version control, testing, debugging, and code review.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to quality and detail.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with AWS or Microsoft Azure, DevOps, and CI/CD as well as HTML5, CSS3, or related front-end technologies.

Highly Regarded

Experience with any of the following would be an asset:

  • React, Node.js, ASP.NET Core, or C#.
  • 2D or 3D graphics, visualization, modelling, or engineering software.
  • SQL, Oracle, Entity Framework Core, or other relational database technologies.
  • Developing scientific, engineering, CAD, or simulation software.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you’ll have developed a strong understanding of Rocscience’s applications and the engineering problems our software solves. You’ll be contributing production-quality code, taking ownership of development work, and helping us continually improve our architecture, testing, and development practices.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to build industry-leading engineering software used around the world.
  • Interesting technical challenges involving web development and 2D and 3D visualization.
  • Friendly, collaborative colleagues who genuinely enjoy working together.
  • A brand-new office in downtown Toronto, steps from King subway station.
  • A hybrid schedule: Monday through Thursday in the office and Fridays working from home.
  • Base salary of $90,000–$105,000, plus annual bonus, 3 weeks of vacation, and health benefits.

Rocscience is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where employees are treated with respect and have the opportunity to succeed. We welcome applications from qualified candidates and will provide reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process upon request.

Rocscience may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the recruitment and selection process. All hiring decisions are made with human involvement.
