Scientific Content Data Expert

Roche | Operations | Pharmaceuticals
Remote In-Country
Full Time
Switzerland
At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters. The Position Are you ready to bridge the gap between traditional scientific publishing and the future of AI-driven research? We are looking for a forward-thinking Scientific Content Data Expert to join our agile team of Content Experts, Data Engineers and Product Owners. In this highly impactful role, you will go beyond library science. As the publishing landscape rapidly evolves, you will secure access not only to essential STM (Science, Technology, and Medicine) literature but also to complex, AI-ready data packages. You will be at the forefront of navigating the complex legal terrain of content licensing and emerging AI-usage rights. If you are a strategic negotiator with a systems-thinking mindset—someone who understands both the legal constraints of data compliance and the technical needs of a data-driven corporate environment—we want you to help enable our strategy and shaping our content portfolio. The Opportunity Portfolio Management: Manage and optimize the STM vendor portfolio, negotiating access to both traditional literature derived platforms and complex text and data packages. Procurement & Negotiation: Drive the end-to-end acquisition workflow in collaboration with procurement, navigating the fragmented legal landscape of complex licenses and emerging AI-usage rights. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work within a diverse team of data engineers, product owners and learning experts to ensure smooth technical integration of acquired data and optimize the visibility and use. Compliance Tracking: Monitor internal data usage to ensure strict alignment with vendor contracts, copyright laws, and specific AI-training restrictions. Data-Driven Development: Analyze usage data and market trends to facilitate effective, evidence-based portfolio development. Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary strategic liaison between external scientific publishers and internal business partners. Who You Are University degree in Information Science, Library Science, Data Management, or equivalent professional experience, with ~3-5 years of experience in related fields. Proven track record working in a corporate environment (preferably Pharma, Healthcare, or Life Sciences). Extensive experience in evaluating and negotiating complex electronic content agreements with data providers. Solid understanding of data management concepts, AI-ready data products, and compliance regarding published STM content (especially navigating AI-rights). Fluent in business English (written and verbal). Ability to connect the dots between legal constraints, technical requirements (Data Engineering), and business needs. Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills with a talent for finding workable compromises between publishers and internal stakeholders. A continuous learning mindset with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing legal and technological landscape. Advanced organizational, analytical, and time-management skills. Who we are A healthier future drives us to innovate. Together, more than 100’000 employees across the globe are dedicated to advance science, ensuring everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Our efforts result in more than 26 million people treated with our medicines and over 30 billion tests conducted using our Diagnostics products. We empower each other to explore new possibilities, foster creativity, and keep our ambitions high, so we can deliver life-changing healthcare solutions that make a global impact. Let’s build a healthier future, together. Roche is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We believe it’s urgent to deliver medical solutions right now – even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients’ lives. We are courageous in both decision and action. And we believe that good business means a better world. That is why we come to work each day. We commit ourselves to scientific rigor, unassailable ethics, and access to medical innovations for all. We do this today to build a better tomorrow. We are proud of who we are, what we do, and how we do it. We are many, working as one across functions, across companies, and across the world. We are Roche.
