Digital Solutions Developer
About RLG
RLG specializes in accelerating change from enterprise-wide transformation to front-line implementation. Clients call us when change is critical, trusting our expertise and proven methods to identify, quantify, and deliver measurable results.
The Role
As a Digital Solutions Developer, you join an RLG implementation team supporting integrated planning and scheduling for a major upstream oil and gas operator. You'll work beside RLG coaches and the client's planners and engineers to turn manual, spreadsheet-heavy processes into working digital tools, deliver a minimum viable product (MVP) the client can use right away, and hand it off to the client's IT and data teams.
This is a 4–6-month contract with potential for extension, based in Houston, TX.
What You’ll Do
- Turn manual, spreadsheet-heavy workflows into working tools, automating them with Power BI (DAX and Power Query) and Power Automate.
- Rapidly prototype and deliver MVPs, including performance tracking dashboards and reporting tools that fit the client's existing data structure.
- Develop applications using Power Apps, Azure or Web/HTML, choosing the approach the solution architecture calls for.
- Build AI agents (for example, in Databricks Genie and Microsoft Copilot) that sit on top of the data model and answer users' questions.
- Ingest and connect data from multiple sources (currently 15 data streams) and build data models that support reporting, analytics and AI.
- Transform data using SQL, Python and Power Query (M), and support the client's data engineers building pipelines in Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
- Repair and stabilize existing digital tools and spreadsheets so field teams can keep working.
- Use AI coding tools to work faster, while reviewing, testing and validating every output against source data before it reaches the client.
- Work with planners, engineers and leaders to map current processes and translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Hand off finished solutions to client IT teams with clear documentation and walkthroughs, and help build digital tools for RLG's own teams between scopes.
What You Bring
- A track record of building and delivering data solutions, dashboards or applications yourself, not only designing or managing them.
- Strong Power BI skills, including DAX and Power Query (M), plus data modelling with SQL and Python.
- Experience with Databricks (including Genie), Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services and the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), SharePoint and advanced Excel.
- Working fluency with AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude or Copilot) and experience building AI agents.
- Experience integrating tools into a client's existing data environment and handing solutions over to enterprise IT teams; oil and gas or asset-intensive industry experience is an asset.
- Rigour about data accuracy, and the ability to explain technical work in plain language to engineers, field leaders and IT teams.
- A degree in computer science, data science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience; Microsoft or Databricks certifications are an asset.
