Ministry Residency Program Details

Ministry Residency

Description

The Restoration Ministry Residency desires to provide recent college graduates with ministry experience, an introduction to a theological education, and developmental feedback for their faith, life, and future career. We expect for Restoration’s residents to commit to deepening their personal faith, grow in theological and biblical understanding, and add value to their specified area of ministry as they function as a member of our staff for the year. This residency position is not designed as an on-ramp to becoming a full-time Restoration staff member, but rather to encourage and develop them as they discern wherever the Lord leads them afterward.

Available Programs

Restoration residents become a member of one of our ministry teams for the duration of their residency. They will work alongside the ministers to help in accomplishing the tasks of their ministry alongside their responsibilities to raise support and communicate with supporters, complete their theological studies, and share general ministry expectations with all of staff. Listed below are some of the specific requirements and opportunities within each residency program.

Children’s Ministry

● Regularly meet with the children’s team to strategize how to most effectively serve and lead the Children’s Ministry. ● Help facilitate and prepare for the primary two weekly ministries: Sunday morning Service and Refuge on Thursday nights. ○ This includes helping train and oversee volunteers, programming, and logistics surrounding both events. ● Assist in running the Restoration Kids social media pages and parental communication. ● Help plan and coordinate Kids ministry events. ○ This includes attending and coordinating Vacation Bible School and Summer Camp with kids during the summer months. ● Assist in onboarding potential RCB Kids and Refuge volunteers. ● You will work alongside the Kids team, reporting to Kids Ministers’ Tori Allison and Haley Osborn. ● Kids residents will be expected and invited to be self-starters who seek to develop and improve the church’s ministry to children and their families.

Youth Ministry

● Regularly meet with the youth team to strategize how to most effectively serve and lead the Youth Ministry. ● Assist in developing and onboarding youth volunteers, preparing them for success. ○ Equip, coach, and shepherd the youth volunteers as they grow in ministry effectiveness ○ Attend and help plan volunteer meetings. ● Prepare and participate in the weekly planning and execution of Surge on Wednesday evenings. ● Assist in planning and executing various youth events and activities throughout the year. ● Help plan, coordinate, recruit for, and attend the Summer Mission Trip. ● Residents will work alongside the youth team, reporting to Youth Minister Ryan Brown. ● Youth residents will be expected and invited to be self-starters who seek to develop and improve the church’s ministry to the youth and their families.

College Ministry

● Regularly meet with the college team to strategize how to most effectively serve and lead the College Ministry. ● Help equip, coach, support, and shepherd the College Leaders. ● Conduct interviews for potential future college leaders. ● Guide leader-pair meetings and initiate one-on-one meetings with students regularly. ● Initiate and attend optional events, bible studies, and hangouts with the leaders ● Help plan and lead the MCG leader retreats, monthly meetings, and college events. ○ This includes men’s and women’s events, worship nights, and spring retreat. ● Assist in organizing and preparing for summer college MCGs and ministry events. ● Residents will work alongside the college team, reporting to College Minister’s Preston Swiggart and Jenna Tucker. ● College residents will be expected and invited to be self-starters who seek to develop and improve the church’s ministry to college students.

Missions

● Regularly meet with the missions team to strategize how to most effectively serve and lead the church in engaging in global and local missions. ○ Meet with Restoration members and attenders requesting to learn more about our missions ministry. ○ Plan and organize events aimed at mobilizing Restoration members to the field in both short and long-term capacities. ● Connect with the missionaries Restoration supports. ● Help plan, organize, process applications, and lead mission trips. ● Educate and equip members of Restoration with resources to engage in missions. ○ This includes participating in and helping lead Global Community Groups and Explore groups. ● Residents will be expected to complete the Perspectives course at Certificate level if not previously done so. ● Residents will be expected to complete the Restoration Missions Residency Training Outline in preparation for cross-cultural ministry ● Residents will work alongside the Missions team, reporting to Missions Mobilization Minister Hannah Davin. ● Missions residents will be expected and invited to be self-starters who seek to develop and improve the church’s engagement with global missions. ● Upon review, Missions residents may extend their residency beyond a year in which they spend an extended period of time with one of our missions partners.

Operations

● Facilitate office management & administration responsibilities. ○ Serve as the front desk office manager. ○ Coordinate supply runs with all staff. ○ Update, print, and prepare the bulletin and Sunday service handouts. ○ Complete the Planning Center Online University course to become an “expert” in our Church Management Software. ● Assist the Human Resources Coordinator in compiling changes and updates to benefits and programs. ○ Shadow and participate in the onboarding process for any new hires. ○ Work alongside the HR Coordinator in making edits and/ or changes to the Staff Handbook. ● Assist in the preparation for any relevant events; including both ministry-specific and church-wide events. ● Work on facilities and maintenance projects and tasks as necessary. ● Shadow Restoration’s Bookkeeper as they prepare end-of-month documentation as well as quarterly budget updates for Restoration Staff. ● Assist any ministry, volunteer team, staff, and/ or event(s) happening on Sundays. ○ This could include, but is not limited to helping set up crew, printing additional bulletins, making last-minute supply runs to storage units or stores, etc. ● Gain experience in additional ministries. ○ Work alongside the Executive Pastor to set a rotation of volunteering in each area of ministry on the Staff Formation Team to connect micro back-end details to the macro goals and objectives of healthy Gospel-driven, Discipleship ministry. ● Operations Residents will work alongside the operations team, reporting to Executive Pastor Matt Ullrich. ● Operations residents will be expected and invited to be self-starters who seek to develop and improve the church’s administrative and operations systems.

Theological and Biblical Education

● All residents will meet with other Ministry Residents each week through Restoration’s “Equipped” class to cover various aspects of Biblical and Theological education.

● Topics included

○ Bible Study Basics through the book of Matthew ○ The Founding and Flourishing of the Church in Acts ○ Major Bible Doctrine ○ Understanding the Pentateuch ● In addition to the classroom setting, residents will be required to complete a project or assignment as a supplement to each Bible/ Theology unit covered such as: ○ Bible Charting ○ Practical & Ministerial Response Paper ○ Reflection Question Responses

Important Details

Application Process

● Apply: October - December 31st ● Interviews: January 15th - February 15th ● Offers & Acceptance: February 15th-28th ● Support Raising Training: Will need to attend a training in March or April

Typical Restoration Staff Schedule

● 40 hours per week ● Standard office hours are 9am-5pm. ● Including various events and/or trips throughout the year. Expect certain weeks to require additional time and some to be lighter due to the seasonal nature of the job!

Vacation and Holidays

● Residents will be given 10 days of personal time off. ○ Five of the ten days may be used on a Sunday.

Salary, Fees, & Support

Ministry Residents will be support-based employees of Reliant Mission, seconded to Restoration Church Bryan ● Ministry Residents will make a salary of $2,850/ month. ● Restoration Ministry Residency Program Fee: $1,500 ○ This covers education, books, materials, retreats, etc. ● Reliant will include additional costs to cover employer taxes and insurances as well as costs dependent upon each Resident’s selected benefits. ● Residents will have the option of raising additional funds to cover costs associated with their transitions into and out of the residency program. ● Additional costs for Missions Residency ○ Missions Trainings and two Trips: $7,300 ■ Concilium Security Training and Mission trips ● The residency cannot begin until the residents are at least 80% funded by July 15th.
