Senior Manager, Compliance - Netherlands

The position
This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global employment space as the Senior Manager, Compliance for our Dutch regulated payments entity.
We are building a Financial Services subgroup within Remote. This subgroup owns payments licenses in the UK, and Canada. In order to maintain Remote's licensed and operate in the fintech space, we will need to meet the highest standards for customer due diligence, anti-money laundering and counter financing terrorism, internally referred to as know your business (KYB).
You will help setup sound procedures for vetting our customers globally. Not only will you have the responsibility to introduce and implement innovative anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-financing terrorism (CFT) solutions for our platform, you will also be relied upon to share guidance and expertise on EU regulatory requirements.
What you bring
- Extensive experience within the Second line of Defence in the financial sector, with demonstrable expertise in Financial Crime Compliance
- Expert knowledge of both European payments legislation (e.g. Payment Services Directive II) and Dutch financial legislation (e.g. Wet Financieel Toezicht and Wet Witwassen Financiering Terrorisme)
- Previous experience in both Compliance and Compliance Operations roles within a global financial services company.
- Must be a Netherlands resident
- Professional AML / MLRO certifications
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the compliance team of the regulated entity, including the MLCO, reporting to the General Manager of the Entity
- Accountable for the effectiveness of the second line of defence, including oversight of the the effectiveness of 1st line of defense for the regulated entity covering the entire European Economic Area.
- Accountable owner of the compliance framework for the Dutch regulated entity.
- Primary adviser to the General Manager, Management Board and Supervisory Board. Support the General Manager, the Management Board, and Supervisory Board with decision making on all compliance related topics
- Owner of the annual Compliance Plan and Compliance Monitoring Plan.
- Responsible for compliance function budget and resource planning in alignment with the General Manager.
- Responsible for recruitment, performance management and succession planning of the compliance function.
- Owner of regulatory remediation programmes and accountable for delivery.
- Approval authority for material compliance policies and risk appetite recommendations. Draft policies relating to customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, screening measures, business-wide risk assessments, customer risk assessments, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, law enforcement engagement, fraud prevention, anti-bribery and corruption, authentication standards, AML/PF training and sanctions compliance.
- Responsible for ongoing maintenance of relevant policies, procedures and control environment to ensure our payments entities remain compliant with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Regulatory Reporting:Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports to regulatory authorities. Keep abreast of regulatory changes and update reporting processes accordingly.
- Act as escalation point for 1st line analysts for KYB, transaction monitoring, and other cases.
- Providing risk-proportionate advice to key stakeholders on matters relating to financial crime risk.
- Supporting the Compliance Technology team to ensure that core compliance tech is both designed and operating effectively.
- Drafting mandatory, firm-wide AML training for Remote Group and our financial entities.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The interviewer will share further details with the candidate on the more restricted pay range for the role in line with their specific location. The individual pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, internal parity and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.

The annual salary range for this full-time position is EMEA: €112,900 to €127,000.
