Director of Engineering

Prismatic is the integration platform that helps B2B software companies build integrations fast and deliver them at scale. We're turning integrations from a bottleneck into a growth driver for hundreds of companies, from high-growth startups to Fortune 500s.

Our platform handles everything that breaks at scale, so teams can ship integrations, not infrastructure. It provides flexible, AI-enabled build experiences through code-native, low-code, and an embedded workflow builder, plus self-service configuration and an embedded marketplace.

Prismatic is well-funded with strong product-market fit and a high-agency, driven, collaborative culture.

About the role:

We're hiring a Director of Engineering to lead the Engineering organization. This role reports directly to the CTO and is the single engineering leader across two teams currently totaling 8 engineers, with a plan towards ~12. This is not a manager-of-managers role today, you’ll be directly managing the team. The ideal candidate is someone excited to directly lead a team of high performing Senior+ Engineers. Beyond the people management side, you'll own the full scope of execution: process, feature delivery, quality, while maintaining a highly engaged group of people.

Prismatic is built primarily in TypeScript (both frontend and backend), with some Python and Django on the backend and React on the frontend. We build a sophisticated low-code integration builder, an SDK and tools for building integrations fully in TypeScript, and features powering our customers' AI agent functionality. All of this on top of a high-scale, performance critical platform. While this is not a hands-on building role, being confident in the technology, and the challenges of a scaling a developer facing SaaS platform will be crucial to high quality decision making.

What will you do:

• Partner with Product to drive execution across all initiatives; on-time delivery, quality and consistency.

• Manage, coach, and grow all engineers directly, regular 1:1s, high-quality feedback, and growth conversations.

• Staff each initiative and pair it with the right Tech Lead; develop the Tech Lead bench so ownership keeps spreading.

• Surface and resolve cross-initiative risks: staffing gaps, priority collisions, delivery delays.

• Contribute to hiring: help us find, close, and ramp the next several engineers.

• Contribute technically where it helps, this isn't day-to-day code, but helping with architecture review, tech-debt analysis, scaling challenges, etc.

About you:

• Demonstrated progression from a technical role to a leadership role, with demonstrated experience managing multiple teams of Engineers in a fully remote environment.

• You've operated as the senior-most engineering leader in a group, or close to it; comfortable being the only manager, without a layer beneath you.

• Significant technical experience in at least one area of our stack; able to speak credibly in architecture and scoping conversations.

• Proven partner to Product on scope, estimation, and delivery commitments.

• Experience managing remote teams; excellent written communication

• Thrives on accountability, bias to action, strong desire to empower individuals and win as a team.

• Experience at a scaling SaaS startup in varying roles.

Bonus if you have experience with/in:

• AI-enabled software development

• Developer-facing products

• High scale SaaS platforms

Our tech stack:

• Cloud - AWS

• Databases - Postgres, Redis

• Backend API - Python & Django

• Backend Integration Platform - Typescript

• Frontend - Typescript & React

• SDKs - Typescript

Pay range:

• The pay range for this role is $220,000 - $250,000/yr, plus equity

• Most new hires start near the midpoint based on their relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with room to grow within the range over time.
