Who is Re:Build Manufacturing?

At Re:Build, our mission is to ensure the next generation of important products are made, at scale, in America. We are laying the foundation for a better future for our customers, employees, and communities by revitalizing America's manufacturing base and creating meaningful jobs across the country, including in historically deindustrialized regions.

We operate an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform that partners with industrial companies and innovators to take products from first concept to full-scale production in critical verticals including aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation.

The way we operate is as important as the work we do. It's guided by The Re:Build Way, 16 principles that shape how we collaborate with each other, partner with our customers and vendors, and contribute to the communities where we operate. The Re:Build Way principles

Who is Re:Build Fikst?

Re:Build Fikst, a Re:Build Manufacturing company, is a dynamic product development and engineering consulting firm located in Wilmington, MA. We work with pioneering clients to develop technology, design products, and bring those products to production. Re:Build Fikst's areas of expertise include biomedical instruments and consumables, industrial automation, and design for manufacturing. Fikst has growing embedded systems design capabilities, focusing on providing microcontroller and embedded firmware solutions for electromechanical control across a wide variety of technologies and industries. We have extensive in-house laboratory and rapid prototyping capability including CNCs, 3D printers, waterjet and laser cutters, which help facilitate our ability to prototype and innovate fast. As part of Re:Build Manufacturing, we are able to collaborate with other member sites and leverage a greater network of capabilities including composites, industrial design, structural analysis, and embedded systems design.

We Are Looking For:

• Creative problem solvers who take ownership of their work while proactively collaborating and seeking guidance when tackling complex challenges.
• Strong communicators who can convey the merit of solutions to our clients, building the trust that is core to everything we do.
• Hands-on engineers eager to physically debug complex systems, utilizing rapid iteration to actively de-risk firmware and hardware interactions.
• Life-long learners who embrace our continuous cycle of teaching and learning, naturally growing from an invested mentee into an emerging mentor for junior team members.
• Collaborators that enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and scientists.
• Results-oriented engineers who thrive in a streamlined environment, using the right tools and minimizing bottlenecks to get the job done.

What You'll Get to Do:

• Take ownership of firmware modules, driving bare-metal or RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) solutions from concept to production while building bidirectional trust with your team and leadership.
• Join a growing embedded systems team, acting as a key collaborator between internal hardware engineers and the client.
• Write, test, and debug embedded software to control actuators, read sensors, and manage system states.
• Build a sustainable, healthy career in Fikst’s hands-on culture of experimentation, utilizing logic analyzers and custom test setups to validate firmware on physical hardware.

What You Bring to the Table:

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
• 5 to 10 years of industry experience.
• Broad technical background with a proven track record of implementing bare-metal and RTOS-based embedded firmware.
• Experience with firmware control of physical mechanisms (actuators, motors, sensors) and hardware debugging.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and common communication protocols.
• Experience in regulated industries (such as medical devices) is a plus.
