About Rad Hires
Rad Hires connects senior remote professionals with US companies. We vet for real, hands-on expertise and a clean fit, and we're with you from the first call through placement.
About the company
Our client is a US-based managed AI and security firm and Microsoft Solutions Partner. They run identity, security, cloud and migration projects for large enterprises in financial services, insurance, healthcare and manufacturing. They need a senior lead to own the technical delivery of two programs. Both move acquired companies into a global parent organization's existing Microsoft 365 tenant and Active Directory forest.
About the role
You'll be the senior technical lead on a distributed engineering team. You'll also be the technical voice in client working sessions and at project board level. You'll own two programs from validation through hypercare:
- Program 1: Active Directory and Microsoft 365 with Quest On Demand Migration. Scope is about 800 licensed users and 1,100 mailboxes (mostly UK) and about 90 TB across Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint (about 9,000 sites) and file shares. It also covers about 1,500 devices, about 160 SSO apps, about 120 Intune packages, thousands of guest accounts, file servers, and VMware-hosted servers and virtual desktops.
Program 2: Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 with BitTitan MigrationWiz. About 70 users in the UK and Europe on Jamf-managed Macs. Inbound mail runs through Mimecast. Coexistence is long-running, and users keep their original domain addresses.
The contract runs about six months, through the end of April 2027. An extension is likely, because further acquisitions are planned into the same tenant.
What you'll do
First six weeks (validation, with a written deliverable each week)
- Review the Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 configuration (MigrationWiz projects, endpoints, user mapping, Google admin settings, mail routing) and write a short as-built.
Validate the Quest solution design, migration plan, configuration and license counts, and help answer client questions.
Settle open design questions with evidence. These include per-recipient routing through the email gateway, domain moves between tenants, forest trust and SID history, the file-share-to-SharePoint approach, Entra join vs. hybrid join, and license counts vs. real object counts.
Build the wave schedule, cutover runbook and pilot readiness checks.
Technical leadership
- Own the runbooks, pilot and wave plans, go/no-go criteria, rollback plans, cutover weekends and hypercare for both programs.
Review and take over design work done by others, and document gaps and risks.
Guide and review the client's engineers, and be the escalation point for migration issues.
Write client updates, decision papers and post-wave reports, and present options and risks at project board level.
Program 1: Quest On Demand Migration
- Run Quest across AD/Entra ID, Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams and Power BI. Use native or other tooling where Quest doesn't cover a workload.
Run Directory Sync, Domain Rewrite, Mailbox Switch and password sync, including SID history across a forest trust.
Migrate devices with the device agent and Desktop Update Agent, coordinated with Intune and Autopilot.
Migrate or re-permission servers and file servers (ReACL), and move file shares to SharePoint Online with permission mapping and link remediation.
Plan multi-terabyte SharePoint and OneDrive moves around Microsoft throttling, queue priorities and delta passes.
Program 2: Google Workspace to Microsoft 365
- Administer Google Workspace for the migration: routing and compliance rules, address maps, dual and split delivery, groups, service accounts and API access.
Run MigrationWiz for Gmail and Google Drive: endpoints, licensing, user mapping, Drive permission remapping, delta and final syncs, and BitTitan support cases.
Design and operate coexistence routing across Mimecast, Google Workspace and Exchange Online (connectors, accepted domains, forwarding, address rewriting, SPF, DKIM and DMARC).
Keep calendars, free/busy, groups and workflows working for users split across both platforms.
Microsoft 365 tenant administration (both programs)
- Handle domain verification and removal, including Microsoft escalation when a domain is held in another tenant.
Manage Conditional Access, MFA, least-privilege PIM roles, migration service-account permissions, licensing and OneDrive provisioning ahead of each wave.
Provide hypercare in UK business hours: message traces, alias and routing fixes, and clear updates to users and client IT.
What we look for
Non-negotiable
- A current MS-102 / Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, verifiable on Microsoft Learn.
At least two Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migrations, including Gmail and Drive with extended coexistence, delivered hands-on with BitTitan MigrationWiz.
Exchange Online mail flow and coexistence: connectors, accepted domains, MX cutover, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, forwarding and address rewriting.
Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration: domains, Conditional Access, PIM, licensing and OneDrive provisioning.
10+ years overall in Microsoft 365, Exchange and Active Directory engineering. This includes several tenant-to-tenant or acquisition migrations of 500+ users led as technical lead.
Strong PowerShell (Exchange Online, Microsoft Graph, AD and SharePoint modules), plus Google Workspace admin tooling or APIs.
Experience leading cutover weekends and hypercare, not only executing tasks for someone else.
Fluent, polished spoken and written English.
Strong preference
- A current Quest On Demand Migration certification (verifiable Credly badge) and hands-on Quest delivery, including Active Directory work: Directory Sync, Domain Rewrite, Mailbox Switch, Desktop Update Agent, SID history and ReACL. Five more Quest migrations of about 700 users each are planned after this program.
Google Cloud Certified Professional Google Workspace Administrator. Strong hands-on experience is accepted if you certify within 90 days.
Active Directory forest trusts and cross-forest resource access.
Designing mail routing with a secure email gateway in front of two live mail platforms.
Recovering a domain held in another Microsoft tenant, or moving a primary domain between tenants without mail loss.
Multi-terabyte SharePoint and OneDrive migrations, and Teams chat migration.
Nice to have
- Mimecast administration (Proofpoint or another secure email gateway is fine).
Intune, Autopilot, Apple Business Manager and Jamf coexistence.
File share to SharePoint migration (Excel link remediation, FastTrack).
Power BI / Power Platform migration, VMware coordination, and Purview retention, legal hold and eDiscovery.
SC-300 and MD-102.

You've taken over and corrected a migration design someone else built.
You stay composed with IT directors, executives and project boards, including when you're delivering bad news.
You explain options and risks in plain language and recommend a course of action.
You write client updates, decision papers and runbooks that don't need heavy editing.
This role is not for you if
You don't hold a current MS-102 / Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert certification.
You've never run a Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migration hands-on with BitTitan MigrationWiz.
You've executed migrations but never led the cutover and hypercare.
You can't work mostly US Eastern hours, pick up UK-hours requests and cover weekend cutovers.
You need full-time hours from day one, or can't commit through the end of April 2027.
