Who we are

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Central Ohio, we’re a privately-owned, independent healthcare navigation organization. We believe that no one should have to navigate the cost and complexity of healthcare alone, and we’re on a mission to make healthcare simpler and more effective for our millions of members. Our big-hearted, tech-savvy team fights to ensure that our members get the care they need, when they need it, at the most affordable cost – that’s why we call ourselves Healthcare Warriors®.

We’re committed to building diverse and inclusive teams – more than 2,000 of us and counting – so if you’re excited about this position, we encourage you to apply – even if your experience doesn’t match every requirement.

About the role

Quantum Health integrates with a wide variety of partners through data exchanges and API interactions. The Manager, Vendor Integration Engineering leads the team of Vendor Integration Engineers responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting those integrations. This is a player-coach role: you will hire, coach, and develop a team of technical integration engineers while remaining hands-on enough to review integration specifications, lead the hardest escalations, and set the technical standards the team works to.

You will own the intake, prioritization, and delivery of vendor integration work across a portfolio of partners and client onboardings, partnering closely with Client Engagement executives, onboarding project managers, Product, Engineering, and Data teams. Success in this role requires both strong technical depth in data integration (ETL, SQL, APIs, file transport) and the leadership skills to build a high-performing, client-facing technical team.

Location: This position may work remotely anywhere in the United States of America or may work hybrid from our Dublin, Ohio location.

What you’ll do (Essential Responsibilities)

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Vendor Integration Engineers, including hiring, onboarding, goal setting, performance management, and career development. Build bench strength and reduce single points of failure across the integration portfolio.

  • Own the delivery of vendor and partner integrations end to end - intake, technical discovery, scoping, prioritization, build, testing, go-live, and transition to steady-state support. Hold the team accountable to committed dates and quality standards.

  • Set and enforce technical standards for integration design, including data exchange formats (e.g., JSON, XML, CSV), transport methods (e.g., REST, SOAP, SFTP), data mapping and transformation patterns, error handling, and documentation. Review integration specifications and designs produced by the team.

  • Serve as the escalation point and L3 owner for integration incidents, driving triage, root cause analysis, corrective action, and long-term stability planning. Partner with infrastructure, development, and vendor teams to resolve production issues.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership by reviewing complex SQL and stored procedures, ETL pipelines (SQL Server Integration Services and comparable tools), and monitoring and alerting configurations - and by working directly in the technology when the situation calls for it.

  • Partner with Client Engagement executives and onboarding project managers to translate client and business requirements into actionable technical plans, provide realistic effort and timeline estimates, and represent integration readiness in onboarding and implementation forums.

  • Manage capacity, workload, and resourcing across the team, balancing new client onboardings, partner enhancements, and production support commitments. Surface risks and trade-offs early with clear recommendations.

  • Own executive-level and vendor-facing communication on integration status, risk, and performance - including participation in vendor performance reviews, where you provide technical insight on integration health, incident history, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendor and partner technical teams, establishing clear communication channels, governance cadences, and accountability for vendor deliverables against contractual and operational expectations.

  • Partner with Legal, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure all vendor integrations adhere to data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA), secure authentication practices, and internal governance and change management policies.

  • Drive continuous improvement and automation across the integration function — reducing manual handoffs, standardizing reusable patterns and templates, improving observability, and contributing to architecture and process enhancements.

  • Define and report on operational metrics for the team, such as delivery cycle time, on-time onboarding readiness, incident volume and mean time to resolution, and integration reliability.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring (Qualifications)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience leading technical teams (people management, team lead, or equivalent), with demonstrated success hiring, coaching, and developing engineers.

  • 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in data integration, ETL, or data engineering.

  • 3+ years of Relational Database experience (SQL Server preferred), including proficiency in T-SQL and stored procedures.

  • 3+ years of ETL experience (SQL Server Integration Services preferred), including exposure to data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience working with external partners or vendors in a direct client-facing capacity.

  • Demonstrated experience using AI to accelerate workflows and ensure quality.

  • Demonstrated experience with Cloud technologies like AWS or GCP.

  • Strong understanding of Relational Database concepts (i.e. normalization, constraints, etc.) and Data Warehouse concepts.

  • Good understanding of Web Technologies including APIs and SSO.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and delivery commitments across multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate technical detail for executive and non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and serve as a liaison between technical and business partners.

  • Protect and take care of our company and member’s data every day by committing to work within our company ethics and policies.

  • A high degree of personal accountability and trustworthiness, a commitment to working within Quantum Health’s policies, values and ethics, and to protecting the sensitive data entrusted to us.

Preferred Experience

  • Vendor management, contract, or SLA oversight experience.

  • Data modeling experience.

  • Cloud integration experience.

  • Experience within healthcare, healthcare technology, or other regulated industries.
