IT Quality Engineer Sr - Remote (Medi-Cal)Job Description
The Senior IT Quality Engineer is responsible for driving quality engineering initiatives across complex software solutions in a multi-platform environment. This role requires in-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, advanced automation practices, and quality engineering principles. The Senior Engineer works independently, performs testing at all levels, provides technical leadership, mentors team members, and ensures the delivery of robust, scalable, and high-performing software solutions.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and develop manual and automated test plans, test cases and test data required based on functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and system specifications
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, performance, stress, and platform testing to ensure software reliability and scalability
- Lead and implement comprehensive test strategies for complex solutions, inclusive of non-functional testing
- Design, develop, and optimize advanced automation frameworks and tools
- Manage work direction, lead, influence, and provide feedback to team members
- Analyze and resolve complex quality issues using advanced debugging techniques
- Define and track quality metrics and present insights to stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and quality standards within the quality service
- Implement quality tools, services, and best practices via collaboration across IT
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; HS diploma from an accredited school or equivalent GED required
- 5 years of work experience in software testing and/or engineering
Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship
Additional Qualifications
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and provide technical guidance, work direction, feedback, and mentorship to Quality Engineering teams.
- Skilled in developing and implementing comprehensive test strategies for complex, enterprise-level solutions, including non-functional testing
- Deep knowledge and expertise designing, developing, and optimizing advanced test automation frameworks
- Knowledge of the healthcare or PBM industry, including relevant regulatory, security, and quality standards (e.g., HIPAA)
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) and industry-standard automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to analyze and resolve complex quality issues using advanced debugging techniques
- Strong understanding and practical experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and DevOps practices
- Proficiency with database testing and validation using SQL, with experience in large-scale databases like Oracle
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex information to senior stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading the testing in multi-platform environments
- Experience defining, collecting, and tracking quality metrics, and presenting insights to stakeholders with a proven ability to advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle
- Experience with test automation and/or performance testing
- Experience leading test efforts in multi-platform environments (e.g., web, mobile, API, and microservices)
- Experience with advanced performance and load testing strategies and tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling)
- Experience evaluating, implementing, and rolling out new testing tools, services, and quality best practices across an organization
- Professional certification(s) in quality engineering or automation testing
