Pines of Sarasota is currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Cook.  

The ideal Cook candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Minimum of one year as a cook in an institutional setting. Specific experience in nursing home, hospital or other healthcare setting is preferred.
• Training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc.
•  Must be able to cook a wide variety of foods in large quantities.
• Writing skills sufficient to document actions taken.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• The cook is responsible for preparing, cooking and serving residents’ meals.
• Prepares and cooks meals for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu for meals and snacks.
• Prepares food using proper food handling and safety techniques.
• Checks trays during food service to assure that meals are served accurately in accordance with the menu and with the resident’s diet order and food preference. Assures that meals are served in an attractive and appetizing manner.
• Maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and service. Records temperature of food in accordance with department policy.
