Merchant Success & Growth Manager, Spain

Location: Madrid, Spain Reports to: Nina Seidenfaden, General Manager, based in Copenhagen Focus: 60% merchant success | 40% business development and ecosystem growth

The role

Pie Systems is growing its presence in Spain. We’re hiring a hands-on, commercially driven manager to ensure a key merchant succeeds and help build the partnerships and pipeline needed to grow the market.

You’ll own day-to-day coordination with our key merchant, including support across its live stores. You’ll also drive direct merchant sales and build relationships with POS providers and relevant industry and trade associations. You’ll report to General Manager Nina Seidenfaden and work closely with our Merchant Success, Business Development and Operations Managers.

What you’ll do

Merchant success and operations — 60%

• Own the day-to-day relationship with our key Spanish merchant and coordinate requests with internal teams.

• Keep store operations running smoothly and help ensure merchant and tourist support is responsive.

• Visit live stores every two weeks to provide guidance and practical support to store teams.

• Keep in-store training materials up to date.

• Observe daily store operations and proactively recommend improvements to store communications, signage and other in-store materials.

• Coordinate printing, delivery and updates of customer-facing materials, including pamphlets and stickers.

• Gather merchant feedback and identify improvements to the service and store experience.

Business development and ecosystem growth — 40%

• Build and manage an outbound pipeline, sell directly to prospective merchants and track progress against monthly targets.

• Develop relationships with POS providers, industry and trade associations, and other relevant partners.

• Create sales materials and support contracts and onboarding for new merchants and partners.

• Work with internal teams to identify product adaptations for larger and smaller Spanish retailers.

• Report on pipeline, new store signings, generated GMV and partnership opportunities.

What we’re looking for

• At least five years’ experience in merchant success, account management, business development, partnerships, sales or a related role.

• Startup experience and the ability to take ownership, move quickly and work through ambiguity.

• A driven, enthusiastic self-starter with a practical, can-do approach.

• Fluent Spanish and English; English is our corporate language.

• Based in Madrid and able to visit stores regularly.

• Strong commercial, communication and relationship-building skills.

• Experience in tourism, fintech or B2B SaaS is a major advantage. POS or industry association partnership experience is also valued.

How success will be measured

• Growth in Spanish GMV and newly signed stores.

• Progress against agreed monthly sales targets.

• Strong merchant satisfaction and timely follow-through on merchant needs.

• Store visits every two weeks and effective support for store teams.

• Up-to-date training materials and practical improvements to store communications and signage.

• Progress building relationships with POS providers and industry associations.
