Lead Business Consultant
Lead Business Consultants own the requirements and the sign-offs for a delivery team's scope. You define what gets built and whether it is right, decide what is in scope and what is a change, and carry the client sign-off. Perficient's Salesforce practice delivers in small, AI-first teams. AI drafts most of what used to be written by hand — requirements, stories, configuration, tests and documentation — and a named person reviews, corrects and approves every piece of it, and is accountable for it. We hire people who can direct that work, defend it in front of a client, and keep learning as the tools change.
What you'll do
The pillars of being a successful Lead Business Consultant at Perficient are:
- Run discovery for the team's scope and own the requirements summary — corrected against what stakeholders actually said, and approved.
- Author the PRD for the scope and own every decision in it. A generated PRD reads as finished whether or not the decisions in it were taken.
- Identify gaps against standard functionality, and confirm each claimed gap is real.
- Prototype in the platform to settle a requirement instead of writing around it.
- Decide what is in scope and what is a change request, and raise the commercial consequence the same day rather than absorbing it.
- Record business approval on every story and keep the consultants unblocked.
- Run UAT with the client, triage every issue personally, and own written acceptance.
- On larger programs, step into the solution conversation across teams.
Marketing Cloud responsibilities
- Develop, test and document email development, set up and query data extensions, and build marketing automations, journeys and campaign configuration.
- Administer the creation of a new Marketing Cloud instance.
- Design and implement the data model.
- Understand and implement key integrations between Marketing Cloud and the broader Salesforce ecosystem.
- Understand and consult on best practices, governance and compliance on marketing automation platforms.
How you'll use AI
- Use AI to transcribe sessions, draft requirements summaries, PRDs and stories, and widen the options — then correct the synthesis and make the call.
- Check every generated summary for the outlier a tidy theme smooths away.
- Review generated work critically before it moves. Generated work fails plausibly — complete, well-formed, internally consistent and wrong — and you are the one who catches it.
- Answer one question about anything you approve: what did you change or correct before you approved it? A reviewer who never has an answer is not reviewing.
- Work fluently in whatever the engagement runs on — Claude, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, platform assistants, or the client's own stack. The activity is mandatory; the tool usually is not.

Who we're looking for
Technical depth gets you in the door. Beyond that, we hire for four qualities together, not any one in isolation — and we want people who are humble enough to teach as readily as they learn, hungry enough to close a gap without being asked, and smart about people as well as platforms.
- Techno-functional depth — You define a requirement and know whether it is buildable, because you have built on the platform yourself.
- Client presence — You hold the sign-off conversation, including the one where the answer is no.
- AI-native delivery — You correct a generated requirement set rather than author one, and you count what you changed.
- Learn-fast orientation — You take on unfamiliar business domains and become credible in them fast.
You are already using AI tools to work faster and deliver better outcomes, and you want to keep pushing on that. This is where the practice is headed, so it is a practical, non-negotiable skill, not a nice-to-have.
