Senior Data Engineer

## Title **Senior Data Engineer dbt & GCP Circa 180K Hybrid** ## Company Pearson Carter are working with a leading Australian financial institution investing in its cloud data platform. Youll help shape its Google Cloud environment, establish dbt engineering standards and influence how enterprise data products are built and delivered. ## Responsibilities - Lead the design of dbt architecture, reusable macros, packages and testing frameworks to establish consistent engineering standards. - Build secure, scalable data pipelines using GCP, BigQuery, SQL and Python. - Design enterprise data models using Data Vault 2.0, dimensional modelling and medallion architecture. - Improve BigQuery performance and cost efficiency while embedding CI/CD automation, governance and security controls. - Mentor engineers and work with architects and product owners to shape platform decisions and delivery practices. ## Experience **Essential:** - Advanced production experience with dbt Core and/or dbt Cloud, including custom macros, packages and testing. - Strong GCP expertise, with deep BigQuery knowledge covering partitioning, clustering, slot management and cost optimisation. - Advanced SQL and Python skills, alongside experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development. - Strong understanding of Data Vault 2.0 and dimensional modelling. - Experience implementing data governance and security controls within sensitive or regulated data environments. **Desirable:** - Banking or financial services experience. - Exposure to Dataplex and Knowledge Catalog. - Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical standards across multiple teams. ## Salary **Circa 180,000 AUD**, with superannuation arrangements to be confirmed.
