Role Overview
These positions offer excellent career and growth opportunities for talented, highly motivated professionals with a passion for delivering complex technology, data, quantitative and AI-enabled work. We look for people who are flexible and who know the content and industry well enough to earn real credibility, leading delivery with fluency in the technical substance of the work rather than managing it from a distance. We call this content-fluent project management: the role is an orchestrator of delivery, not an administrator of it.
Above all, we look for people who create and maintain the conditions for excellent teams to deliver exceptional outcomes with our clients.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits, with a clear career path through to Managing Director or Partner and potentially a steeper trajectory than in similar firms. These roles sit at Levels 3 to 5 of the Oliver Wyman competency model: Associate Team Leader (Level 3), Team Leader (Level 4) and Director (Level 5). Directors can pursue promotion to Managing Director or Partner
Key Responsibilities
- Associate Team Leaders and Team Leaders would typically work on one project at a time, while a Director would typically work on two smaller assignments or one large, more complex one
- Leading complex technology, data, quantitative and AI-enabled transformation programmes, running a workstream within one, or providing PMO support, depending on seniority: planning, governance, risk, dependencies and financials, working hand in hand with client teams throughout, who are core partners in delivery rather than an external stakeholder group
- Making things simple: turning complexity into something the team, Partners and clients can act on with confidence, not just a longer status update
- Creating the conditions for exceptional teams, spanning consulting, engineering, data and client colleagues, to do their best work: coaching alongside doing, with fast, frequent feedback, not managing through a tracking tool
- Building trust across the whole delivery ecosystem: client sponsors, Partners and engagement leaders, and using that network to bring technical, commercial and senior-level steer to projects
- Coaching Oliver Wyman and client team members to develop their skills, and contributing to DNA's growing project management community and discipline
Skills and Expertise
- Fluency in the content of the work, engaging directly and credibly with engineers, data scientists and technical leads rather than working through a translator
- An ability to tell emotive compelling stories: making people feel the weight of a decision or a risk, not just describe it to them
- An enthusiasm for project management as the craft it is, in its own right
- A flexible, adaptable approach: comfortable moving between projects, teams and client contexts as priorities shift
- A genuine commitment to team success: real satisfaction from helping other people do their best work, not just delivering your own
- Strong planning, governance, risk and communication skills, with real rigour applied to the discipline of delivery
- Independence and an ability to work under limited supervision while respecting defined timelines
- The ability to present results, issues and implications clearly and effectively
- Excellent command of the English language (verbal and written)
- Ability to manage a demanding workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain and respect confidentiality
Associate Team Leader - At least 3 years of experience leading a workstream or providing PMO support within technology, data, quantitative or AI-enabled projects, managing scope, risk and stakeholders within a project or significant workstream, for example owning delivery of a single data or AI workstream within a larger client programme, including its own plan, risk log and client relationships
Team Leader - At least 5 years of experience, leading complex, multi-workstream technology, data or quantitative-enabled programmes, managing budgets, delivery risk and multiple stakeholders across a full programme, for example leading delivery across several consulting and engineering workstreams on one client programme, with senior client sponsors and Oliver Wyman Partners as regular counterparts
Director - At least 8 years of experience acting as the senior delivery authority on large-scale, technically complex transformation programmes, shaping delivery strategy alongside Partners and client executives, for example holding delivery accountability across a portfolio of major technology, data, quantitative or AI-enabled transformation engagements for a single client
