Short Summary:
Milo is seeking a highly hands-on Senior Data Engineer to build an AI data platform from the ground up, focusing on pipeline architecture, storage, orchestration, and semantic layers.
Responsibilities:
- Build the infrastructure and foundational components for data ingestion, cleaning, transformation, and merging from various sources.
- Design semantic models and ontology layers for raw company data.
- Operate reliable, observable DAG-based data workflows.
- Build data pipelines and transformation systems from scratch.
- Evaluate and select databases, storage technologies, and orchestration tools.
- Make large datasets accessible to AI agents and analytics systems.
- Integrate with databases, enterprise SaaS platforms, APIs, and external data sources.
- Establish engineering standards for testing, observability, reliability, and data quality.
- Collaborate with product and AI engineers to define data infrastructure needs.
- Remain hands-on with coding, architecture, deployment, and production operations.
Requirement:
- 5+ years of professional data engineering or closely related software engineering experience.
- Experience building a data platform, data warehouse, or major pipeline infrastructure from scratch.
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python or another relevant backend language.
- Hands-on experience with modern ETL/ELT frameworks and DAG-based orchestrators.
- Familiarity with various storage systems and analytical storage engines.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, system design, performance, reliability, and observability.
- Ability to make independent architectural decisions and explain technical tradeoffs.
- Strong English communication skills.
