Lead Product Owner, Fraud Platform

Position Summary

The Product Owner, Fraud Platform is responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and business outcomes of the enterprise Fraud Platform and related payments fraud capabilities. This role serves as the primary business owner for fraud technology solutions, ensuring that fraud controls, detection strategies, platform enhancements, and operational processes deliver measurable value while maintaining regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and customer experience standards.

The Product Owner partners closely with Fraud Operations, Payments, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and external vendors to translate business objectives into a prioritized roadmap and executable backlog. This individual drives platform modernization, fraud prevention effectiveness, business readiness, and continuous optimization of fraud controls across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Ownership

  • Own the Fraud Platform vision, product strategy, roadmap, and investment priorities.
  • Define and manage the product backlog to align with business objectives, fraud risk mitigation goals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive value realization through measurable fraud loss reduction, operational efficiency, and customer experience improvements.
  • Evaluate emerging fraud trends, technologies, and industry best practices to inform platform enhancements.

Fraud Controls & Platform Governance

  • Own governance of fraud rules, detection models, thresholds, and control frameworks.
  • Lead review, approval, and prioritization of new fraud controls, rule changes, model enhancements, and platform configurations.
  • Ensure all platform changes are documented, governed, auditable, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to support audits, regulatory reviews, and model governance activities.

Delivery & Release Management

  • Lead prioritization across fraud operations, payments, customer experience, operational efficiency, and technology initiatives.
  • Approve scope, sequencing, and release recommendations for platform enhancements.
  • Ensure successful completion of user acceptance testing (UAT), operational readiness reviews, and business go-live approvals.
  • Remove delivery obstacles and align stakeholders to ensure timely execution of strategic initiatives.

Stakeholder & Vendor Leadership

  • Serve as the primary business liaison between Fraud Operations, Payments, Technology, Compliance, Risk, and external service providers.
  • Establish strong partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities, risks, and business outcomes.
  • Manage vendor relationships, product performance expectations, escalations, and service delivery commitments.
  • Influence senior leadership through data-driven recommendations and product performance insights.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure operational acceptance and successful transition of new capabilities into business-as-usual operations.
  • Define priorities during incidents, fraud events, service disruptions, and vendor escalations.
  • Support business continuity, disaster recovery, resilience testing, and service management activities.
  • Monitor product performance metrics and continuously optimize platform effectiveness.

Decision-Making Authority

The Product Owner has authority to:

  • Prioritize product roadmaps, initiatives, and delivery backlogs.
  • Approve business requirements, scope, and release recommendations.
  • Authorize governed fraud rules, thresholds, controls, and configuration changes.
  • Approve new fraud detection strategies and fraud rule implementation.
  • Accept or reject UAT outcomes and operational readiness assessments.
  • Establish priorities during production incidents, fraud events, and vendor escalations.
  • Escalate unresolved risks, dependencies, regulatory concerns, and resource conflicts.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Fraud Strategy, Risk Management, or Technology Delivery.
  • Experience working within fraud prevention, payments, financial crimes, risk, compliance, or financial services environments.
  • Demonstrated success managing enterprise-scale platforms in highly regulated industries.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and complex business transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with fraud detection technologies, transaction monitoring systems, case management platforms, or decisioning engines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with card, ACH, digital payments, real-time payments, or emerging payment ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of fraud typologies, fraud analytics, machine learning models, and fraud operations workflows.
  • Familiarity with model governance, regulatory compliance, and control management frameworks.
  • Experience managing third-party fraud technology vendors and SaaS solutions.
