Cloud / Storage Specialist (Remote) - #35242
As a Cloud and Storage Specialist, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting cloud infrastructure and storage environments to ensure reliability, performance, security, and availability. You will troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, monitor infrastructure performance, perform system maintenance and optimization, and collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver effective technical solutions. You will also contribute to infrastructure improvements, backup and recovery initiatives, and the continuous enhancement of cloud and storage operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary technical owner for the organization’s enterprise storage environment
• Perform daily health checks, maintenance, capacity reviews, troubleshooting, and incident resolution across storage platforms and related infrastructure
• Support storage technologies and services including SAN / NAS environments, iSCSI connectivity, redundancy, replication, and performance management
• Monitor and respond to infrastructure alerts across servers, hypervisors, storage, and network components
• Diagnose and address issues involving:
o offline servers
o host and cluster issues
o hypervisor faults
o storage degradation or performance concerns
o firewall or network events
• Administer and maintain a diverse virtualization environment, including:
o VMware vSphere
o Microsoft Hyper-V
o Proxmox
o Xen
• Perform routine Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS) updates and maintenance activities
• Validate the health and security posture of firewalls and other critical network infrastructure through daily checks
• Serve as the first technical escalation point for after-hours operational incidents
• Handle occasional after-hours client support interactions with clear communication, professionalism, and urgency
• Complete recurring operational checklists accurately and consistently to support infrastructure reliability and service excellence
• Escalate critical issues appropriately while maintaining ownership through resolution
• Contribute to a culture of operational discipline, proactive support, and technical accountability
• Strong hands-on experience with Enterprise Storage, including administration, support, performance management, capacity management, and troubleshooting in production environments
• Strong working knowledge of core storage technologies and concepts, including SAN, NAS, iSCSI, RAID, Replication, Capacity Management, Storage Performance, and Troubleshooting
• Experience supporting enterprise storage solutions from vendors such as HPE, Dell, or similar platforms
• Hands-on experience with at least one of the following virtualization platforms: Hyper-V or Proxmox, including server/infrastructure administration and troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, Routing, Firewall concepts, and General network troubleshooting
• Some hands-on experience with a firewall platform, such as WatchGuard or similar, sufficient to perform basic troubleshooting and support
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring, alert handling, and ticket management, including Zabbix or a similar monitoring platform
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify root causes and take corrective action
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote overnight environment with minimal supervision
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced infrastructure operations environment
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to handle basic after-hours client interactions and technical support
• Reliable, dedicated high-speed internet connection suitable for remote operational support
Nice-to-have / Advantageous Skills:
• Experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
• Exposure to DataCore or other software-defined storage platforms, particularly for daily system health checks and monitoring.
• Exposure to Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS); conceptual understanding is acceptable and can be developed on the job.
• Experience with Xen virtualization.
• Exposure to Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
• Experience working in an MSP environment.
• Familiarity with ConnectWise or similar IT ticketing/ITSM platforms.
• Experience with operational monitoring, alert triage, and infrastructure incident management.
• Relevant certifications in storage, virtualization, networking, or security, such as:
o CompTIA Storage+
o Dell Technologies Proven Professional certifications
o HPE storage certifications
o DataCore Certified Implementation Engineer (DCIE)
o VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
o Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
o CompTIA Network+
o Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
o CompTIA Security+
• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
