Senior Specialist - Application Support
Project description
As a member of the Investment Technology support team will support various applications running in an investment management organisation. Position requires both technical and business understanding, and the candidate can interface with a variety of stakeholders including Portfolio Managers, Traders, Middle Office and Operations teams to investigate and solve system issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide application support to several key in-house and off-the-shelf Investment Technology applications
- Analyse system logs, understand business workflows and identify issues within systems
- Swiftly resolves disruptions to technology services minimizing user impact and maintaining service levels and ensures adequate communication to stakeholders during application outages/downtime.
- Performs detailed root cause analysis, debugging, and interrogation and implements preventative measures
- Proactive problem management by determining root cause and escalation to L3 or vendor when necessary.
- Implements production changes and hotfixes as required to resolve incidents/problems
- Review and creation of high-quality procedures and knowledge articles around applications/processes to ensure information transfer and transition of new capabilities to stakeholders.
- Ensure service monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement of the service quality and availability
- Analysis performance trends and crafts action plans to address potential impacts prior to impacts occurring
- Accountability for own work, proactively collaborates with team members and makes suggestions to improve practices and looks for automation opportunities
- Being available for on-call support on a rotation basis.
- Capability to dissect problems into manageable parts and may lead initiatives of varying degrees of complexity
- Works within guidelines and policies for ongoing work; may receive general mentoring on new assignments and applications.
- Commitment to the service level objective and alignment with section mission and roadmap
- Help shape new technology standards whilst bringing new fresh ideas
SKILLS
Must have
- Experience supporting PMS/OMS systems such as Charles River or EMS systems such as Flextrade, Liquidnet, BBG EMS.Tethys, Orchestrade and SpiderRock
- Understanding of modern deployment and code management with platforms like GitLab/GitHub and CI/CD concepts preferred
- Experience with Databricks or similar data platforms
- Basic experience with a programming language and/or scripting language (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Perl, Shell, Bash, Java, JavaScript)
- Knowledge of middleware technology or systems integrations - MQ, File transfer, Logic Apps
- Experience working with ITSM tools like ServiceNow and/or JIRA and technical domains (AWS, Splunk)
- Good SQL knowledge
- Basic knowledge of Automated Schedulers (e.g. Control-M/Stone Branch/Autosys)
- Desirable experience on monitoring tools such as GENEOS ITRS or Dynatrace
- Works across teams to review technology portfolio and make recommendations for procedures and practices
Nice to have
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent combined education and experience. • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience within L2 Application support • Sound technology understanding and application to financial markets • Independent, highly analytical, proactive and has good communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to plan and organize workload. • Is adaptable and able to learn quickly
