Senior Kotlin Developer
Project description
Join the Equity Accelerator programme to modernize critical Prime Finance Equities trading platforms. The role focuses on building and evolving highly scalable backend systems using Kotlin and Java, with event-driven, cloud-native architectures. Engineers will work directly on business-critical production systems while contributing to strategic platform transformation and market expansion initiatives.
Responsibilities
- - Design, develop, and maintain backend services for trading and post-trade platforms. - Build scalable event-driven applications and messaging-based integrations. - Develop services using Kotlin and Java within JVM ecosystems. - Contribute to architecture design and technology decisions. - Ensure software quality through Test-Driven Development (TDD). Implement reliable data processing, event replay, and failure recovery mechanisms. - Participate in CI/CD pipelines and frequent production deployments. - Analyze and resolve complex production and performance issues. - Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders across the equities domain. - Drive technical excellence and mentor other engineers. - Apply deep understanding of capital markets workflows to solution design.
SKILLS
Must have
- - 7+ years of Java development experience. - 2+ years of commercial Kotlin development experience. - Proven experience building event-driven distributed systems. - Deep understanding of messaging concepts, including ordering, resiliency, replay, and failure handling. - Strong TDD practices with end-to-end ownership of quality. - Solid experience in Agile delivery, CI/CD, and trunk-based development. - Hands-on capital markets experience, particularly trade lifecycle and post-trade processing. - Understanding of trade booking, position management, settlement, accounting, and cashflows. - Strong system design and architectural decision-making skills. - Ability to operate autonomously in complex, business-critical environments.

- Kafka, Solace, or TIBCO EMS. - SQL Server, MongoDB, and S3/Object Storage. - Kubernetes and OpenShift. - OpenTelemetry, ELK Stack, Grafana. - HashiCorp Vault and CyberArk. - Prime Brokerage, Synthetic Swaps, or Cash Equities domain experience. - Regulatory reporting exposure (EMIR, MiFID, 871(m)). - Experience integrating with risk, valuation, and reporting platforms. - GitHub Copilot, Devin, or other AI-assisted development tools. - Exposure to frontend technologies (React, Angular) for cross-functional collaboration.
