Short Summary:
Life360 is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to build and own the on-device ML platform for their devices, focusing on embedded systems and Edge ML. This role involves both firmware engineering and ML specialization, requiring a strong background in embedded systems and experience with deploying ML models on microcontroller-class hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Build and own the on-device ML platform, including the runtime and model integration path.
- Integrate inference into resource-constrained RTOS firmware without compromising stability.
- Debug on real hardware and drive cross-layer issues to root cause.
- Develop and ship models on device, handling quantization and operator support.
- Optimize for power, memory, and latency constraints.
- Drive alignment across teams on how on-device intelligence is built.
Requirement:
- 10+ years of firmware engineering experience with a track record of shipping at scale.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Deep C/C++ proficiency for embedded systems and fluency in RTOS internals.
- Experience deploying ML models on microcontroller-class hardware.
- Strong written communication skills and documentation habits.
