The Opportunity

We are looking for a Systems Integration Architect to join our Air Traffic Management engineering team and help shape the future of critical national infrastructure.

In this role, you’ll lead the design, integration, and modernisation of network solutions that support highly available, safety-critical systems. Working alongside multi-disciplinary engineering teams, you'll help translate operational and technical requirements into resilient, secure, and scalable network architectures.

This position offers the opportunity to influence technical strategy, guide key architectural decisions, and play a significant role in delivering solutions that support complex operational environments. You'll be involved throughout the engineering lifecycle, from early concepts and requirements through design, integration, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the design and integration of network solutions within complex engineering programmes.
  • Develop network architectures and detailed designs that meet performance, resilience, security, and operational needs.
  • Translate business, operational, and technical requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, infrastructure, and test teams to ensure successful integration and deployment.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Evaluate technologies and recommend solutions that support programme objectives.
  • Support integration, verification, validation, and acceptance activities.
  • Help identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and design trade-offs.
  • Produce and review technical documentation, ensuring solutions are maintainable and supportable.
  • Engage with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to support successful delivery.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in hearing from people who can demonstrate experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Network architecture and solution design within complex environments.
  • Enterprise, operational, or mission-critical network infrastructure.
  • Ethernet, TCP/IP, LAN, and WAN technologies.
  • Routing, switching, segmentation, and network security.
  • High-availability and resilient network architectures.
  • Network performance analysis, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Systems integration across multiple platforms, environments, and security domains.
  • Requirements analysis, network design, and technical assurance.
  • Integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Working within structured engineering, delivery, or change-controlled environments.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have Experience In

  • Safety-critical or mission-critical systems.
  • Air Traffic Management, aviation, transport, defence, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Network modernisation, migration, and transition programmes.
  • Linux or Unix-based environments.
  • Cyber Security principles and secure-by-design approaches.
  • Systems Engineering and requirements-led development.
  • Formal testing, acceptance, and assurance processes.
  • Working directly with customers, suppliers, and technical authorities.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong technical leadership and sound engineering judgement.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
  • Confidence in analysing complex problems and developing practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • The ability to make informed technical decisions and clearly communicate the rationale behind them.
  • A commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
