Middle Business Analyst - Payments and Fintech
We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our Payments & Fintech team. You will be the person who knows how our checkout and payments are really performing, why, and what to do about it.
You will combine strong data skills with a solid understanding of how an e-commerce business makes money: revenue, costs, margins and the trade-offs between conversion and risk. You will turn data into decisions, spot problems before they become expensive, and help shape what the product team builds next.
This is a junior-to-mid level role, ideal for someone with 4–5 years of experience who wants real ownership and experience across Product and Data teams, and grows into Business roles.
What you'll do
Performance monitoring and insights
Own the monitoring of payments and checkout performance: conversion, payment method adoption, drop-off rates, market share and other key KPIs, across markets, brands and devices.
Translate KPI movements into their business impact on revenue, costs and margin, and recommend actions.
Prepare regular business reviews (data, insights and slides) and present them to stakeholders and management.
Anomaly detection and alerting
Be the first line of detection for anomalies in payments and checkout, and coordinate investigations and resolutions with Product, Engineering and external partners.
Own our real-time alerting system for payments and checkout (currently Grafana/Prometheus): configure and maintain alerts, tune thresholds to reduce noise, and extend coverage as the business grows.
Business partnering
Join meetings with payment partners and internal teams, bringing data to the discussion and keeping the focus on what matters for the business.
Support the product team and business team in discovery: size opportunities, define success metrics and help with assessing the results of launches and complex A/B tests.
Scout the market and competitors for benchmarks, new payment methods and fintech trends.
AI and automation
Use AI tools to connect the dots across user data, payment data and other internal sources, uncovering insights that would be hard to find manually.
Build lightweight apps, automations and prototypes ("vibe coding") that make analysis faster and help the whole team work smarter.
Who you'll work with
You will sit in the Payments & Fintech team and work daily with:
Product team: to shape discovery, define metrics and measure what we ship.
Business team: to steer commercial decisions with data and support partner relationships.
Data Analytics team: to align on data sources, definitions and shared reporting.
You will also be in regular contact with payment service providers and other external partners.
What you bring
Data skills: you are proficient in SQL and comfortable manipulating and analysing large datasets with Python (or similar). You build clear, reliable reporting.
Business acumen: you understand how an e-commerce business works, from traffic and conversion to revenue, costs and profit, and you always ask "so what?" behind a number.
AI fluency: you use AI tools every day and are comfortable building apps, automations and prototypes with them.
Communication: you build clear slides and tell a story with data, and you are confident presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ownership: you follow an anomaly through to resolution and coordinate people across teams to get there.
Requirements
Degree in a STEM discipline (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Physics).
4–5 years of experience in data analysis, business analysis or a similar analytical role.
Solid background in statistics (e.g. hypothesis testing, A/B test analysis, time series).
Previous experience in a high-traffic e-commerce or digital business.
Fluent English, written and spoken.
Nice to have
Experience in payments, fintech, fraud or checkout optimisation.
Hands-on experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Grafana, Prometheus or similar).
Knowledge of the travel industry or online travel agencies.
