Product Manager, Retention & Monetization

Title: Product Manager, Retention & Monetization Location: San Francisco, California

This role is focused on retention and monetization. Millions of people use Kikoff to build credit - you'll own what happens after they sign up: why members stay, why they leave, and what they choose to pay for. You will own the retention and monetization roadmap for Kikoff's core credit products - churn, reactivation, plan upgrades, pricing and packaging - and be measured on retained, paying members and revenue per member.

This is a full-time position in our San Francisco HQ with benefits and equity in a fast-moving and fast-growing environment that will help you grow your abilities and career as you help build a better ecosystem of credit for our customers.

What you can expect in this role

• Look deeply at the data and talk to users to find what keeps them engaged, what makes them churn, and what they value enough to pay for - then create retention and engagement loops using content and experiences that leverage product, comms and alert touch points.
• Constantly develop and experiment on experiences, offers and types of content that will keep users active, retained and upgrading.
• Own the levers that drive revenue per member: pricing, packaging, plan upgrades, paywalls and cross-sell into other Kikoff products.
• Own cancellation, save and win-back flows that reduce churn without trading away member trust.
• Drive strategic insights that shape roadmaps for engineering, design and marketing using retention, LTV and revenue data and user stories to build conviction.
• Explore our data and users to create segments by value, risk and intent, with relevant insights, offers and content to drive a virtuous loop of engagement and monetization.
• Take direction from leadership regarding the key objectives your team needs to drive, but outline a roadmap with your product team to achieve successful outcomes, together.
• Drive the discovery process to form a deep understanding of our users and to uncover the products and features that will best empower those consumers - and that they'll stay and pay for.
• Reach beyond instinct alone to capture and analyze the right data to allow you to make the most informed decisions as you continue to evolve your approach.
• Partner with legal and compliance so pricing, disclosures and cancellation experiences meet consumer-protection standards.
• Champion your products within your team, across the company, and with consumers.

What will help make you successful

• Excellent writing and communication skills to communicate both with users and internally to drive strategy, learning and iteration.
• Readiness to roll up your sleeves in all parts of the member journey from copy to setting up comms, offers and product touch points to measuring and interpreting results.
• Extremely data driven and constantly looking for the “why” behind the data to understand what drives user behaviors and explains metric patterns. Comfortable with cohort analysis, LTV and unit economics. Pulling the data yourself is a strong plus.
• You've owned a retention, lifecycle, growth or monetization metric and moved it through experimentation.
• Experience with pricing, subscriptions, paywalls or upgrade flows is a plus.
• You have empathy for consumers and a passion for solving consumer problems in new and innovative ways.
• You feel comfortable in the driver's seat and have a natural way of knowing how to get to the destination, but also know when it's time for others to drive.
• You've worked on successful digital consumer products for at least 2 years, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment.
• You can wear as many hats as necessary including marketer, researcher, interface designer, analyst, and friend.
• An interest in and/or history working on modern consumer financial tools and products, with your own perspective on how best to innovate in this space.

Ideal Candidates

• Current undergraduate and master students or early career professionals with high potential such as from consulting or investment banking.
• A passion for solving problems derived from data-driven thinking and user needs.
• A futurist who can collaboratively lead a team to build towards a vision.
• Highly motivated, curious, and adaptable individuals.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and first principles problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and eagerness to learn.
• Strategic thinker able to breakdown and organize problems, assess opportunity areas, and develop big ideas and priorities to move the business forward.
• Commercial instinct - you think in terms of retained users and revenue, not just engagement.
• Have strong bias to action and hunger to move fast and flexibly.
• Technical background a big plus such as being able to pull data with SQL and read code.
