We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join a leading digital product design and development agency known for building high-quality web and mobile products for well-known tech companies and startups. You’ll support two client projects over a short-term engagement running from late November through early January, with a strong focus on manual testing, responsive layouts, and accessibility. Design quality is central to this team’s work, so a sharp eye for detail and the ability to verify builds closely against designs is key. One project also includes some test automation work, so hands-on automation experience is valued, though manual testing remains the priority.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual testing across web applications and newly designed pages, identifying functional, visual, and usability issues.
- Verify that builds match design specifications closely, flagging inconsistencies in layout, spacing, typography, and interactions.
- Test responsive layouts across browsers, devices, and screen sizes to ensure a consistent, polished user experience.
- Conduct accessibility testing against WCAG standards, using both manual techniques and automated tools where appropriate.
- Support test automation efforts on one project by writing, maintaining, or running automated tests as needed.
- Write clear, reproducible bug reports and track issues through to resolution.
- Create and execute test cases and test plans based on designs and requirements.
- Collaborate closely with designers, developers, and project leads to communicate findings and priorities.
- Manage time effectively across two concurrent client projects with different timelines.
Core Requirements
- Strong experience in manual QA testing for web applications.
- Hands-on experience with cross-browser, cross-device, and responsive layout testing.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and accessibility testing tools such as axe, Lighthouse, or WAVE.
- A strong eye for visual detail and experience testing against design files.
- Experience writing test cases and documenting bugs in tools such as Jira or similar.
- Some experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Have
- Previous experience at a design or product agency, or in client-facing project work.
- Experience with automated accessibility testing integrated into a test suite or CI pipeline.
- Familiarity with screen readers (e.g., VoiceOver, NVDA) for manual accessibility checks.
- Experience working with Figma or similar design tools.
Additional
- US Timezone Overlap: CT
- Engagement dates and schedule: Part time (50%) Nov 30 – Dec 4, full time Dec 7 – Dec 24, then part time (50%) Dec 28 – Jan 7.
- Must be comfortable splitting time between two projects and shifting focus as priorities change.
- Availability during the holiday period (late December to early January) is required.
