Backend Software Engineer - Jit Team

Salary: 6000-7200 SEK/MD (2400-2880 PLN/MD) on B2B

Remote: Hybrid (3 days/week from the office in Malmö, Sweden). During the first 3 months, commuting is possible, but relocation to Sweden will be required afterwards.

Project

Join a team that delivers world-class geospatial data and features powering one of the world’s most widely used mapping platforms. You will work on large-scale data processing systems, building applications and tools that help transform complex geographical data into valuable products used by millions of users worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems related to distributed systems, large datasets, and scalable data processing pipelines while collaborating with international engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Identify requirements for new features and propose technical solutions
• Design and develop scalable software systems handling large volumes of data
• Implement new features using modern programming languages and frameworks
• Take ownership of end-to-end delivery of technical solutions
• Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of existing systems
• Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices

Expected knowledge and skills

• Strong software engineering, system design, and problem-solving skills
• Commercial experience with Scala, Java, C++ or similar backend technologies
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark or Apache Flink
• Experience building distributed and scalable systems
• Ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward with limited guidance
• Fluent English

Nice to have

• Experience in Data Engineering environments
• Experience designing and developing APIs and REST services
• Experience with Akka, Play Framework or Spring
• Knowledge of geospatial data, GIS systems, or mapping technologies
